I've got a little time this Sunday before the games start so I'll try to answer some of the latest posts:
Grayrider: John, thank you for your post. I am well familiar with the CZ platform. It was our company that brought the Jericho 941 to market! IMI later took it away from us and gave it to Magnum Research (that seems to happen a lot to us...).
As you mentioned, Armscor has their new Tanfoglio derived line, IWI (formerly IMI) sells the Baby Eagle through MR, Tanfoglio sells through EAA and Bul has the Cherokee. All of the IWI products are tied up right now with MR and I doubt if they would be willing to break the line apart. I think Legacy will be offering the Bul Cherokee. Armalite is offering the Turkish Sarsilmaz CZ based gun.
Is there really room in the market for another CZ based pistol? It seems to us that Americans are buying more striker-fired guns than anything else. The Springfield XD, Glock, S&W M&P, the new Ruger, Taurus...this is where the volume is today.
mr camera man: The VRA (Voluntary Restraint Agreement) only restricts Russian firearms. Thanks to Clinton, it is permissable to import SKS's and Makarovs from Bulgaria, Serbia, etc., just not Russia.
dleong: Glad to hear your part arrived in good order.
postpostban: Thanks for your suggestion. I have our resident geek working on just such a program. Like ordering a computer online, you will be able to build your AR/M4 and see the cost of it as you add each feature/specification. I don't know when we will be launching this but will certainly post on THR when it's ready.
FYI, we built our D-M4LE with the specs of a 6920 with minimal accessorizing. That way you have the basic platform at a reasonable cost and you don't have too many expensive parts that are going to be replaced.
I do not see us embracing a MAP program for our products.
lorddal: Is your CD Hawken made in Italy or Spain? We have some parts for the old Italian guns but none for the Spanish. LMK and if it's Italian I will have our staff look for a barrel.
Richbaker: I have heard many good stories about Ruger customer service. I even have several of their firearms in my collection (SP101, 10/22, Mini-14). They are good guns for the money.
chauncey: Thanks for your input re: Garand/M14 type guns. This project is coming along at a snails pace. Your comments will help us in the development process.
adkpete: We are launching a complete redesign or our Charles Daly website very soon, perhaps by the end of this week. Unfortunately we stopped updating the old site during development of the new one.
ScottS: Please send me a PM with your address and I will make sure we get a mnaual to you right away.
RonSC: As you mentioned, Remington is now selling this rifle as the Model 5. (Imagine that, Remington selling a .22 with less quality for more money than the Charles Daly.) CDNN may still have some remaining. I would try giving them a call at (800) 588-9500.
Well, that's it for today. I'm going to watch some football!
