Now I'm not talking Lorcin or the like....but I recently bought a Rossi 357 and I love this gun..$150 and it shoots POA and is very carriable....don't get me wrong I love the pretty guns too....but there's something about a usable cheap gun that I like....Taurus and Rossi have been good to me...a buddy's Llama .45 is 100% reliable..we do take some ribbing at IDPA practice from the expensive gun guys....but I figure if it's safe and it shoots and is reliable..go for it.......so who else is with me??
(although I would love a $1000 custom gun too ;) )
Gun snobs need not reply :neener:

I have no problem buying economical guns. Currently I am looking for a good 1911. I think I'm gonna go with the RIA, CD varients. I'm not to sure of Llama, although they are tempting at that price...and they do come with a lifetime warranty, same as the CD guns. Hmmmm, decisions, decisions.

My only economical centerfire gun is my P89 which I bought for pretty cheap.

I shoot idpa with a guy who uses a p89......some of the Glock guys are always ribbing him(I have a Glock so I can judge)but you know..he never has a jam or any kind of trouble with his Ruger...and it's as accurate as anybody elses gun we shoot with...there's something to be said for that..... ;)

Well Tony - in this category I think I'd put my ol' faithful M85 Taurus snub. I carried that for quite some time (evidenced by holster wear and some unfortunate pitting on upper grips line!). It performs just great and did not cost too much - forget now but it was used and did not break the bank!

My wife now has sole custody of that as her carry piece and I reckon it'll outlast us comfortably.

I have an NEF Sportster .17HMR single shot that is a ton of fun, and I would probably own another from that company if I just wanted to shoot targets or the occasional varmint. Not fancy, but worth the money, IMO.

I have an older model 66 Taurus that's had thousands of rds through it. Back to factory early on because of screws backing out but no problem otherwise. It ain't no S&W but it works well. Like P95 I also bought a Taurus 85 a few years ago. The sample I have is one fine little gun, in fact some of my friends with more expensive snubbies pretty impressed with it. It's the gun I carry when I want to really hide one. I've also heard some good reports of Rossi revolvers. Don't ever run a man's gun down because it doesn't cost as much as yours. He just might outshoot you with.

I don't have much of anything but a "cheap" gun. A Kel-Tec, P-11, a Makarov 9x18, a Tarus 85 CH, a Bersa Thunder 22, and a Ruger Single Six 22. OK, I guess the Ruger isn't technically a "cheap" gun. Funny thing is, they all work just fine. That's good enough for me.

Next I want a Hi-Point. I can't afford a Glock right now.

I've had great luck with cheap guns

I've got an old Rossi M88 that has thousands of rounds thru it and thinks it's a target pistol. The wife carries a Taurus 651 and so did I until I replaced it with a Taurus PT145. I had a Pheonix HP22 that I loved and still kick myself for getting rid of. Had a pair of Grendels that worked just fine. My Mitchell Trophy isn't really cheap (could have bought a Ruger for less), but all those High Standard lovers swear it's made of tin foil and spit and I wouldn't trade it for any HS out there.
In rifles there are the Glenfeild 60's that I always have a few of running about. My favorite shotguns are my Steven's 311's, not exactly cheap, but compaired to most SXS's quite thrifty.
And then there are those C&R's that take up every bit of space in the spare bedroom.

The most economical gun I've got is an Ed Brown Kobra Carry I got NIB for $1200. That was a real prize. Next most economical might be a tie--a used Wilson Super Grade for $1800. Neither was cheap, but 'economy' is my middle name....and I think I got the most out of my dollars' value out of both deals. The cheapest gun I've bought is a used LEO's S&W 10 (I think; the S&W with no rear sight). It worked fine, but was rudimentary, and a revolver, not my cup of tea.

Cheap Guns!!!

I had a couple of Jennings 22 auto's that I kept in a bug-out bag in each of my vehicles. I then had the chance to shoot a Phoenix HP22 and loved it. I sold the Jennings for $50 each and had my favorite gun shop order me a couple of the Phoenix 22's . I've had them for a month or more and they feed very well and are surprisingly accurate to boot. They have adjustable sights and just fit my hands better than any little 22 auto loader I've ever tried. I like them. :D
For $112 out the door, I guess they qualify as cheap handguns!!!!
:)

I have a Bersa Thunder .380 which has been a very good little gun.

I have a Taurus 85CH which I bought used for $200 that I'll probably still have when I'm 6' under.

I recently bought a Taurus PT140 Millennium Pro which gives me more "warm fuzzies" than any other gun I have. It is one of my current favorites.

I have a Charles Daly 1911 with probably close to 10K rounds through it now (I know for sure that it is well over 5K as I stopped counting at around 5K about 2 years ago).

My Kel Tec P40, has made my G27 a safe queen. At 15 oz unloaded, nothing compares, period.

My Kel Tec P3AT has been flawless with 1050+ rounds and is my primary at work, and home, and a bug when I carry the P40.

I’ve got a few “expensive” CCW pistols, but they all are designated a room/spot in the safe. And, I’ll carry them for short periods of time. I DON’T CARRY AROUND MY PISTOLS, I CARRY PISTOLS AROUND WHAT I WEAR.

My cheapest I currently own is a Heritage Arms Rough Rider. It was just under $150 out the door. Its a fun little gun IMO.

I have a Ruger P89 on its way too. I just payed for it ($210!) and it should be on its way to the local FFL in a few days.

I have a new model Rossi 971 - a good reliable shooter

Also a Walther P-1 circa 1982 which I enjoy very much

For shotguns I have 12 ga JC Higgens model 20 made in 1955 that I really like because it fits me so well and has a great solid quality (this JC Higgens model was made for Sears by the old High Standard Company). I have a 20 ga Savage Fox, pretty much the same gun as as a Stevens 311, and a 20 ga Baikal izh-27. As was said earlier, they're not what I consider cheap but they are thrifty. I guess I just like a well made working man's style of gun.

Many of the milsurp guns coming in give a very good cost to performance ratio. Some of the best examples of this may be the Swiss K31's selling for under $100 or Finnish M39's that are still sort of cheap in some variations.

I have two Ravens and two FIE Titans in 25acp they perform adequately but I prefer my Beretta 25's.

I bought a 6" brl Taurus 357 (I think the model is 669) that I paid $189 NIB back in 1986 I think. Its been a real trooper. Don't shoot it much anymore, but its still in great shape and I wouldn't hesitate to grab it and use it.

Makarov X2

Best buy for the bucks ever. Thousands of rounds and never a failure to feed, fire, or fling. As reliable as a Trooper III 4" I bought cheap...and comparing a pistol to a revolver for reliability is saying something. Same thing with my SKS...reliable as taxes.

Paid under $200 for each of them. I spent 4 times as much for my Kimber, and it's been a problem.

NOTHING!!!! beats my Makraov!

Yes I've been dieing to get a Kimber but I still can't afford one. Even if I had said Kimber when push came to shove and my life depended on it I would grab my Makarov before anything else.

Hi Point JHP 45acp
Bersa Thunder 380
Phoenix HP22

The best gun of the bunch is the Hi Point. not one jam or miss feed of any kind in 1020 rounds and it is very accurate. the others work fine but i still like the Hi Point better.

Cheap is my favorite kind!

My first gun was a police trade-in 5904 with tritium sights I got for $265 total.

Since then: a Makarov, a Mos-Nag m44, and a Security Six with a complexion problem.

I bought a Kahr pm9 and I hated it! Am I crazy?

Well lets see I have a Rossi 357 snub thats a fine pistol. Of course everybody knows the Bersa is a deal. Now my POS Llama 10 round Sub-compact has finely saw the light after a lot of tinkering and is running with my Colts . Sometimes cheap is fun.
