About the only brand of shotshell primers I can find online is this brand: Cheddite. I know nothing about them, all my experience reloading has been with Winchester 209's, which are backordered everywhere. Is there any reason I shouldn't grab as many as I can afford?

I've used several thousand with no problems, no duds. Hogdons has lots of data and loads on their site now. Basically load the same as Win209's.

Like Cliff, I've used thousands. Probably North of 20K in my lifetime. They work as well as any others I've tried. Never had a single dud. I haven't had to adjust any loads for them. They are slightly larger in diameter than the Winchesters. You'll notice some friction while seating, and your hulls may not hold Wins securely in the future. They are the OEM primer in many (most?) European made shells, and they show up from time to time in US made discount shells, notably Fed Top Gun.

All the folks at our range use them and go through about 4K a week with no issues. Most have used for long time and would not use anything else.

If you find Nobel Sport or Fiochhi, those are good as well, although with Nobel I have noticed an occasional hard primer, perhaps 1/500 requiring a second tap in some specific firearms. I have seen these brands in the last year as well.

As noted Cheddites are a smidge bigger but the data is the same as WIN. I have used a pile of them with great results and traditionally they have cost less than US brands. Just figure that once they are used in a hull you can't go back to standard sized primers.

I use them in place of winchester 209 primers in non magnum loads that only develop around 7,000 to 9,000psi.
You do have jam them in there a bit, they are like a thousandth bigger than winchesters.

I love them for hulls where the primer pockets are getting loose.

I’ve been using them for all my skeet loads with Win 209 data but loaddata.com has Cheddite data.

I mark the bottom of my hulls with a Sharpie once I seat a Cheddite in it so I don’t try a Win 209 in it later.

I just picked up an additional 10K. First 3K couldn’t tell any difference from the evidently protected species WW209s.
