Whilst skulking the various online merchants, in the never ending pursuit of components. It appears that there is a more or less uniform supply of Cheddite 209 primers. My supply of 209 primers (Winchester, Remington, Federal) is adequate for my immediate needs. Any members have experience using the Cheddites? My research yield the following, they are just a scosh larger in diameter than the domestic flavors. Might be suitable for hulls that have s slightly loose pocket.
Any anecdotes would be appreciated.
Thank you

The old yellow and green box primers were slightly larger, the new blue and purple boxed ones are the same size as Win. 209's.
I've shot about 5000 over the last year and a half, all went boom, no problems with primer size.

Which reminds me, I'm down to 4000 of them.

Yep, I to have a couple thousand, seem to be readily available .... Once I run out of Federal 209A that's what I'll be using

I just started using them 6-8 weeks ago, I’m 1/2 way through the 2nd brick.

I saw a chart. They are like .0005 bigger in diameter than standard win 209s. I notice the first time I seat them, they are a little tight. Then after that you can’t tell the difference. I wouldn’t go back to the standard Win 209 in a case I had seated the Cheddite in.

I have seen load data specifically for the Cheddite, I think on loaddata.com but I have read many sources that say they are the same as Win 209s so I’ve been using Win 209 load data.

That said, all my skeet/sporting clay loads are under 9,000 psi so there is room for error.

For heavy hunting loads I’m saving my 3.500 Win 209s for that purpose since I push them pretty hard.

Best deal I’ve seen on them was $264/5,000 at Precision Reloading, right after I paid $50 more than that at another vendor.

Most people won't buy them because they can't find cheddite specific load data.
They appear to be a fine substitute for winchester 209 primers in target loads.
I would say don't use them in loads known to produce around 10,000 psi or more, we you are substituting cheddites for winchester.

Great advice! When you are at the upper end of the pressure curve, it should be the exact recipe they tested.

I use Cheddite primers exclusively in my Cheddite 3" 410 hulls. Since the Cheddite hulls are very similar to Federal 410 hulls, I use reloading data for Federal 3" 410 hulls. I haven't had any issues with the Cheddite primers.
