Chicago Handgun Ban

Daley is an ELECTED official. Eventually the folks in IL WILL get fed up and vote him out.

Ummmmm, today would be a good time to start the movement for those in IL.

I hate to be the eternal pessimist, but I don't have a lot of confidence in the political processes in Illinois. However, that's political and not necessarily gun-related. Getting back on track, it does appear that even if the Court rules for Mr. McDonald, there will be continuing efforts to create laws meant to stifle gun rights. I only hope that the NRA and ISRA mount a massive campaign into countering these efforts.

The biggest problem with DC is that because of FEDERAL LAW citizens can't buy handguns out of state without FFL tranfers between states. In essence, DC residents can't buy handguns from MD or Virginia without going through two FFLs. There are no physical storefront FFLs in DC and the City Council and Mayor have intentionally made it tough to establish any new ones.

The lone Federal Firearms Licenced person in DC charges at least $80.00 to cover a transfer and that's on top of what DC charges for the process.

A current bill in Congress, among other changes, would make it legal for DC residents to purchase handguns from Maryland or Virginia. Until then this is the biggest problem that DC residents face when it comes to actually acquiring a handgun.

Chicago is in a different situation being within a state but I'm sure that the City Council and Mayor will make the registration process as difficult and as expensive as they can get away with.

Since the Supreme Court is as such they should say Heller is the law of the Land and all State and local gun bans are now null and void. That way the Chicago and other places have to spend the TAX payer money to get their laws appoved. At the rate we are going it will be 20 years before they all get challenged and knocked down.

Great Story

What a great story here in chicago. An 80 year old man living in chicago shot and killed a person breaking into his house in the morning. The intruder supposedly shot twice before the 80 year old shot once, in the chest, and killed the intruder. Read the story, and then the comments. This guy deserves a medal, not prison
