I should be alarmed by all of these gun owners here knowing a few alternatives for drug packaging...but I get it. I was around it a lot in college, though, like everyone else i hope, i never touched the stuff. BTW, you guys forgot about empty prescription bottles...

Illinois as a whole is way off my map. I'll never go there. and God help me if I buy a new shirt there.
this kinda stuff absolutely boggles my mind. I at least can understand the anti-gun movement. Guns can facilitate killing (note, they don't kill, just help people do it) and using the simplest math, I can see why dumb people think, "less guns, less killing." But how something so innocuous as a plastic baggie can be blamed for drug trafficking is well below my thought processes.

Hey, they have full time, salaried people who are paid to come up with things like this.

Meh, it doesn't take much more than two spare brain cells to rub together to figure out there is plenty of different methods with which one could package a small amount of powdery substance. Experience with drug paraphernalia isn't needed.

Also, lots of folks here are cops, so its likely they come into contact with these different packaging methods on a fairly routine basis.

The stupidity is staggering. Simply staggering.

Anyone realize how scary this really is? Imagine someone (CATV, Utility Company etc) notifying CPD that he saw baggies in your home...BAGGIES! Thousands in legal fees, children taken to foster care, loss of job and home. This isn't funny when you consider that California is at one end, Bloom-York at the other and The Republik of Daley in the middle. Think about it!

Two items:

One---what will I store my tiny ultra-deadly machinegunesque revolver in?

Two---this one is free for the Chicago folks. Those bags must cost something. So instead of banning the bags why not sell them? If the bags cost $.02 each then Chicago's finest should start selling them at $.01 and even take a loss on selling them if they have to. Then they could find all the folks buying these in large quantities and maybe get some names. (bonus info for Chicago powers that be---if they buy lots of these and don't work at Bill's House of Extra Shirt Buttons---they may be using them for something else like drugs)

:banghead:Chicago is not alone, stupidity is everywhere!

Raleigh NC is banning garbage disposals this month, a $25,000 per day fine if you install a new one or replace an old one.

This strain of stupidity is badly contagious and spreading fast so don't forget to get your stupdid shot this year!

Knowledge is power. Some of it was learned the hard way.

I hang out here on THR because gun nuts tend to be of a liberal mind in the classical sense on many issues.

That said, if anyone ever so much as offers my kids a cigarette (let alone narcotics) I will swallow them whole.

----

On a side note, my wife buys the little 'snack' ziploc bags. She now has me 'hooked' on them. We took the kids for an overnight to an indoor waterpark this week--I remarked at just how much like heroin the suspicious fine-grained, brown powder looked that was stashed in my bag--
it was metamucil.

For those of you who do not live near Sodom on the lake I will try to educate you. The reason that they go after the little baggies and grocery and health food stores is because it is highly unlikely that A. it will have any effect B. That anyone will be endangered by giving a ticket to a store clerk for 1500.00 C. The city makes money on the fines this is a real biggie and D. It will not hinder the gang bangers. It is a WELL known fact that there more than a couple aldermen (women) who have active Gangbangers on their staffs and working the streets during elections. These fine young men also seek donations for the alderpersons campaign. Readers digest version Store owners and clerks will not shoot the people giving the fines. Bangers collect money for some alderpersons. They can say they are doing something without doing anything.
