Greeting's All-

Here in Old DixieLand the SKS assault rifle has gotten a new name from
some of its followers. The new name is Chopper, as used by the
gansta types cuz it chops thru vechiles~!:uhoh:

And the 1911 .45 caliber pistol is known simply as a "fo'ur five".

Ah well, to those of us on *real* Choppers, it really doesn't matter.

I use the bayo on my yugo to chop through stuff all the time. Its a great can opener. Good for weeding the garden too. Roasting marshmelllows etc...

I haven't chopped through any cars with it yet but I might try that next.

The SKS is an "assault rifle" if it's used to assault someone. Until then, it's just a rifle.

I don't quite agree with your notion of sticking the "assault" label on something when it's used in an attack on someone. Going by that logic, a kitchen knife used in a stabbing would then be an "assault knife", a Buick station wagon used in a drive-by shooting would then be an "assault car", and a rapist who strangled his victim with her phone cord would have used a length of "assault wiring".

Yes Darth. That was my point.

You're right and you're wrong. There's been a big adoption of 1930's gangster culture into hip-hop,everything from double breasted pinstripe suits to Irv Gotti's choice of name to lines like "you can call me the Don" or many Scarface,GoodFellas etc references.Haven't you ever seen an old gangster film when one of the guys goes " hey, gimme my choppah!" meaning he would like his Thompson?Tommyguns are a little harder to come by than SKS's but you work with what you've got.Rap has used the term "gat" for years, same source.

And if I shoot them "Taters" just right it will make Julian fries....................

I've heard the "chopper" term used by southern rappers in albums from 4-5 years ago, but I thought it referred to AK types. "Trick Daddy" another rapeer from the "dirty south" also mentiones the SKS in one of the albums.

SKS mentioned in rap always struck me as stange as it does not sound as cool as a MAK 90 or AK which is always mentioned but due to the sheer number of SKS in the country and the fact they can be modified to take large mags I guess it is natural they are mentioned sometimes due to exposure to them.

I met a "gangsta" type guy once who claimed to have sawn down a Russian SKS in the butt to make a more concealable package.

Ah, got it. The way you wrote it, it appeared you were serious.

Do me a favor next time. Use those little emoticons to indicate sarcasm so I don't end up sticking my other foot in my mouth, too. :banghead: :D

lol

i can just picture some gbanger trying to hump a yugo sks about and look mean with a fricking 5 foot long rifle under their oversize tshirt.

sks is a lot of cool things, but sleek and evil looking it is not...

oh, and yes, i do own a yugo.

HR,

That should be "fo-fah" to be more accurate. Long O in 'fo' and guttural on the 'h' ...

lpl/nc (born in AL, still speak the language)

A chopper might be a Thompson SMG, but it might also be an M3 half-track with quad-mount M2 Brownings. See attached pic.
