Hello all,
Does anyone know if I could use another brand of firing pin spring and firing pin cross pin for a churchill highlander 30-06? The spring I have is weak and when I punched the firing pin cross pin out it broke into 3 pieces.
Thanks,
Dave

How about were to find factory parts. Yah I know good luck finding any since most people never heard of this gun.

I have one in 7mm Rem Mag. and I feel your frustration at trying to find info on it. Is yours Italian? It was inported by Kazznar Imports and Michael Kazznar is a member of this forum. He can be found on the "Charles Daly Wants to Hear From You" thread. Good Luck!

Commercial Mauser

I thought the Churchill bolt actions were commerical mausers. You might google up pictures of the mauser version of the parts you are looking for and see how close they are.

The Churchill Highlander is NOT a Mauser. Except for the butterknife bolt handle, the bolt more closely resembles that of a Remington 700.

From what I understand from a english gunsmith Churchhill rifles could be made by BSA but I am going back 35 years ago when he had a whole rack of the rifles for sale. I had one in 303 but it was pretty old. Check English gun part sources for the part.

For those who have never seen a Churchill Highlander

This is my 7mm Rem Mag. I bought it at a Pawn shop afew years ago for $279 including a Simmons 44 Magnum scope. The trigger is exceptionally smooth and the rifle is more accurate than I am. I need to reblue it and refinish the stock but not before I know more about it. Top in first photo, lower is a Howa 1500 in 30.06

Thank you Mr. Kazznar. I had hoped you would answer in open forum as I too have this rifle and would also be interested in a source of spare or replacement parts.

Sorry guys been distracted for awhile.

Thanks for hooking me up with the cross-pin Mr. Kassnar. I owe you one.

I'm still in need of a firing pin spring. The gun just isn't hitting the primer hard enough. I'm wondering if i have too much protrusion on the firing pin tip. It sticks out about 90 thousands. Shouldn't it be closer to 79 thousands? Not sure if its getting a good enough run before it strikes the primer or doesn't that matter as long as the spring is strong enough. No pierced primers before this problem.

If i get some dimensions from the spring can someone help to cross reference this with an available spring?

Thanks alot
Dave

It was my pleasure!

Don't give up on me completely yet though. I have emailed the manufacturer (Sabatti) and requested that he send us some extra pins. I will let you know how we make out.
