Pretty sure there are a number of people on here who could at for "strictly hypothetical and completely for the sake of speculation" come up with ways to take out an Abrams

If you talk to a combat arms solider who's been deployed they can probably tell you exactly how to do it. There are some pretty simplistic devices that will destroy or disable a heavy armored vehicle on a budget.

even with civil unrest, you still gotta go to work, hard to imagine that a riot would turn into a surviving off rabbits issue. I'd strengthen my house if I could. We already got the guns to defend the house and the cars if trouble comes to us

why would they close it?
Ok, here's the problem with SHTF threads, otherwise known in this case as "civil unrest."

Everyone has their own spectrum of what that encompasses ranging from a small/isolated/personal SHTF moment (someone breaking into your house, a localized gas leak forcing an evacuation of a couple of blocks) to some sort of scenario that would cause Walter Mitty to call it far-fetched (everyone being blasted back to the stone-age by meteor except the UN tanks roving around trying to quash the final few freedom fighters who are defending their homestead against the atheist zombie mutants and executing daring raids to rescue the few remaining supermodels and cases of delicious Slim Jim brand beef snacks while living off the land Wolverines!) with a whole gamut in the middle of varying scenarios.

Even in this thread, we've had people go from merely trying to escape a possible riot to "we need to take out a main battle tank!"

It might be more useful to have a discussion of what to do stuck in a traffic jam when 200,000 people try to head for the hills. :)

The OP actually pretty much answered his own post. "what rifle would you like to have in your hands ? something extremely reliable and practical"
