The clark custom Gator seems to me like a pretty good target AR-15. I was planning on getting one with a carbon fiber handguard , and a Bushnell Holosight. The gun's price at about 1600(with scope) is about the max of my price range.

Have one of the Gators. It is a great setup and they meet their stated 1/2. But why buy a accurate rifle and put a holosite on it?

Use holosite on some guns but you limit yourself to a more limited range and lose some of what you are buying the rifle for.
Just my thoughts but you wont be sorry if you buy gun.

The Gator is for 3 gunning. I've watched Jim Clark shoot in the WC3gun and the man is simply amazing.

In our world the Gator with a Holosight makes perfect sense.

I agree the gator is good to go for 3 gun with a red dot, however the question referred to target rifle. That said, A scope would be the most likely sight.

the acog would be a far better sighting system.

if you shoot properly set up 3 gun matches often, you'll realize that red dot sights are at more of a disadvantage than iron sights are, because they're not as fine as irons, and provide none of the magnification scopes provide.
