Clark Custom Guns Rocks!!!

I had some revolvers that needed some love and was told about Aaron Hayes in Pflugerville. I gave him a call and discovered that he is an amazingly talented 1911 guy and builds and outstanding AR, but not a revolver guy.

It seems that he is Jim Clark's nephew and spent years working at Clark Custom. He would see to it that my guns were taken care of.

So I handed over 3 guns. A ROACHED flat latch J-frame, my daughter's model 19 and a model 14.

The J-frame was very loose and I didn't know if it was worth saving. The 19 was getting a trigger job as a Christmas gift for my daughter. The 14 needed some love because Old Fuff, spotted via photo, that the hammer was rubbing on one side.

The j-frame came back shootable (hey...they are not miracle workers) but the K-frames have AMAZING triggers now.

The price was reasonable.

They did have there time as the place to got for bullseye guns and started this 10/22 craze also just flat fine smithing work. Seem for the most part they don't get the accolades they are still do today. Great people still there.

Always nice to find a good Smith. There are not many out there anymore.

Bringing 3 in at once was a brave move. I would have been biting my nails in anticipation. Glad it worked out for ya .

Jimmy Clark Sr. was a legend in the business and from what I hear, his company is doing well continuing the tradition. A professionally tuned S&W is truly one of life's greater pleasures.

Pflugerville and Round Rock is way closer than Shoot Out Lane.

The last time I was there, the wizzards at Clark seemed to discourage piece work by quoting an 18 month, maybe, turn-around. Complete guns were sooner, and sooner still for Emergency Room treatment of equipment going to a Nat'l Event. Makes sense to me.

Can't expect Petty Enterprises to do a tune-up on a '54 Plymouth Hy-Drive for a gimpy geezer.

I know that they are a busy shop but they have one or two revolver guys. I was VERY pleased with the work.

As to the offspring, she did a great job.

I told her that every parent wants their child to surpass them but I the POLITE child waits till her second match to do so.

Back in the dark ages of pre-history before all of the alphabetical organizations came into the picture I would sometimes show up at informal local matches with my pet, "Old Junker." (The name is affectionate). She's a 4", long action, pre-model 10 made in 1946, and the DA trigger pull is pure goose grease smooth. I’ve made Python owners swoon. If I used 158-grain loads the sights were dead on to point of aim at 25 yards.

Couldn't beat the top shell-shuckers because of slower reloads, but I humiliated everybody else.

Glad you've gotten your irons back G ! Was wondering when you'd take possession again. Your young'n looks like she's taken to the sport pretty quickly, hope she continues to knock the centers out! Never shot a revolver that "shot as smooth as goose grease"..... must be an antique thing huh G? Congrats, hope your re-worked revolvers do you well !
