Classic Arms M44?

ANyone have experience buying from classic arms? I really like the look of the chromed M44 they have. Are the guns truly 'excellent' condition as advertised? M44 is oine my list of near-term purchases.

That and a WASR 10.

And a savage 12bVSS

and a RR Ar lower.....

If you do a search for 'classic arms' on this and other boards, you will find that they generally get a positive review. I've been happy with the few guns that I bought from them (K31, Mosin Nagant), and I'd risk buying from them again.

I have no experience with their chrome M-44's. However, I know that they are chromed in the US, I'm pretty sure North Carolina. Many of the Nagants floating around the market right now are in great shape. After the war, the Russians refurbished them, and stored them in salt mines for a rainy day. It's affordable enough to use a refurb as the basis of such a project that I doubt they would use Century's 'U-Fix-Ems'.

I have dealt with their customer service. Nice folks who try to help you out. They got my stuff out on time, and packed it well. Very fair to deal with.

Classic has positive reviews. I had a problem with them not answering the phone and not getting my C&R put on file. I've been unable to order from the because of this.

I ordered two laminate stocked M44's from Interordinance and they're slooooow to ship but they rifles are pristine, no indication these were ever issued. No scratches from the bolt being operated, the magazine being opened, the bayonet being affixed, mirror bright bores. My only concern is they overcharged me compared to the website price.

I disassembled one and scratched the stock.

The other one is still perfect.

If you don't mind me asking, how did the prices at Interordance compare with Classic Arms? Classic has M44 in 'excellent' condition (supposedly) for $79, laminate stock version $99. Chrome hardwood 149 abd chrome laminate for 169 (which is what i am leaning towards).

Checked locally and this seems to be a good deal. One shop had M44 (usually their stuff is pretty rough) for 129, another 160 and 199 (too high for M44).

I was going to order them from AIM at the two for 69.95 price but they're out. AIM is pretty annoying not having product in stock but keeping it listed it on their web page. AIM does ship very fast and they did not part out their CZ-52s and keep the accessories and only give you one magazine like SOG does.

I haven't yet made a C&R purchase, but I purchased a 1911 from them recently and they are nice to deal with.

Pretty sure they do their own chroming.

mrmeval - did your's have matching numbers? If so, were they original or 'forced' matching numbers?

Also, were they gooped up with cosmoline?

From what mrmeval noted in his post - I am leaning towards Interordnance. Sounds like they have some nice stuff. I'll pay the extra bit to have them hand select the 'shiniest' one for me

Bore is perfect......but is has refurb markings on it so it has been re-arsenaled at some point.

Came with no cosmoline on it at all - just some light oil which took all of about 20 minutes to clean off with some Hoppes and a quick disassembly.

I decided to go with Interordnance.com for it. I got the FFL transfer all arranged this morning, and the order in. I opted for the hand pick for excellent bore and matching numbers. Although I am pretty sure that these are all rearsenaled so the numbers will be most likely forced. Oh well, not being a collected and wanting something in good shape that goes 'bang' this should do the trick.

I've bought many guns from Classic and always been satisfied.

That said, I purchased two M44s (one hardwood stock, one laminated) from Dan's Ammo a couple of weeks ago on the recommendations from the Gunboard's Forum. All have matching numbers. So little cosmoline on both that I wiped what little remained with mineral spirits.

I could not be more pleased with both the guns and service. Comparing with Classic and Dan's guns and in this case, I think Dan's rifles win.

I'm sure you'd be satisfied with rifles from either dealer.

Here is another +1 to Dan's Ammo. I've bought ammo from them (him?) numerous times, and they (he?) have always been great to work with. Damn good deals on the Swiss GP11, too.

JONB, most of the Mosins are all rearsenaled they are comming outa Bulgaria where they were stored, they were all rearsenaled after WWII to make them ready for the next war, the reason for stamping the serial number on all major parts is so that the rifle stays intact after each trip to be rearsenaled following each war etc... rearsenaled guns with forced matched parts are usually the result of worn out or damaged parts being replaced at some point in the guns life time, All of my Mosins are rearsenaled and 100% stamped matching except for the Polish and Chi-com ones which we imported directly from Poland and China respectfully they are all in as issued or unissued condition as they never got rearsenaled in the case of the Polish ones they are all original unissued about 2/3 of my T-53s (the soviets gave the Chinees all theire M-44 parts and tooling when the Soviets moved on to the SKS) are unissued with the rest being excellent all matching etc... I got to pick them right outa the container the day we opened em up and started unloading them though so...

There is a high possibility that if ya paid for HS ya will get an all original stamped matching rifle
