Clinton vows to block bill criminalizing illegal immigrants

Hard to argue with Frosty here, Ralph. As usual he's on the money concerning the Mexican invasion.

My point is that the wall is an easy first step that makes a lot of much better second steps easier to implement. Next thing you know the problem is solved. Read Eugene Volokh's slippery slope article that explains how you get the camel into the tent by way of his nose.

Any word yet on what organizations are organizing and footing the bill for these demonstrations. I think the chance of spontaneous nationwide demonstrations is real, real small.

No, if I was a betting man I'd wager on 10-20 Hispanic (artifical word) groups which receive funding from a half dozen or so prominent US philanthropic organizations which are beneficiaries of US tax exempt status. These organizations will more than likely have a long history of advocating and supporting a whole host of communitarian projects around the US. I would also expect to see lurking in the underbrush a small handfull of internationalists of obscene wealth and possessing a record of funding a large number of institutions and efforts all pointed at integrating the planet economically and politically.

As in all things political, follow the money. And if you don't think the current flap over illegal immigration is over ultimately money, then you simply have not studied the matter sufficiently.

If immigrants are not going to embrace America as their new home, in every way, they are, Mr. President, emphatically not welcome.
I welcome them, as I welcomed the Vietnamese, Laotion, and Chinese before them.

All are assimiliated to the level they wish, just like the Itallians, the French, the Muslim and the Jewish.

We have jobs for them.

This idea of illegals 'earning' citizenship by simply being good at walking at night and running from the police is bound to stir up some serious crap with US citizens, when the thought of the difficulties of legal immigration to the US (and how they/their ancestors got here) crosses their minds.
You left out "working hard".

That puts them above a significant section of Americans, and it makes us stronger.

Except that you seem to oppose denying them access to the entitlement programs that only citizens should have access to. If illegals are merely "hardworking," denying them handouts shouldnt even be noticed. So why do you oppose it?

And you seem to view the several million illegals in our jails as aberrations- like Vincente Fox is sending us the creme of the crop from Mexico. It find it bizarre that eastern euriopeans with college degrees have to wait 10 years to become citizens while mexicans want it merely as a reward for evading capture on their swim across the border.

You sound like someone who gets his bread buttered by low cost illegal labor but wants us to pay for all the secondary costs from that. I mean, why shouldnt you save a few bucks not providing health care for your workers? The taxpayers will cover you! We have nothign better to do than subisidize your illegal business model.

Biker,

I don't think you'll get a straight answer. If I had to guess I'd say he's too embarassed to admit it and to greedy to quit it.

Fear, hysteria and ignorance.

http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/prisons.htm

On December 31, 2004, according to the Bureau of Justice, there were 2,135,901 inmates in federal or state prisons, or local jails.

There are not, therefore, "several million" illegals, because there are not several million inmates.

Gross hyperbole. Numbers picked out of the air. In a word, crap.

Of that 2.1 million, 1.22% are Hispanic, 3.2% are black, and .46% are white.

6/9% are women.

Women are six times as likely to offend as Hispanics.

Perhaps we should trade our women for Hispanics?

Your hysteria is amusing. You must be afraid, and the fear must be driven by your ignorance.

Make up more numbers.

We get stronger every time an immigrant crosses the border- the numbers of prisoners that come north are far smaller than the number of prisoners that were born here.
