Clinton vows to block bill criminalizing illegal immigrants

Hillary has no credibility regarding her understanding of theology. Marxism maybe but not theology. Her inconsistency theologically breathtaking.

No she was earning her bones two ways: strutting her theological stuff (sucking up to the religious right) and riding to the rescue of the poor oppressed laborers (suckin up to the voting illegal immigrant).

For every illegal aliens in the USA, there is probably 10 alians trying to migrate legally. Throw the illegal aliens out and bring in the legal immigrants.

If your math's correct that would yield 180 million more people (200M - 20M)--at least by my reckoning. You sure that's your plan?

why focus on just mexicans?what bout the unknown numbers of other foreigners that had their "passes" expire?
(sarcasm ahead)
hire an illegal alien, put americans out on the street.we cant lose by hiring all these cheap labor sources while we out source our other labor...the stuff illegals cant do, to foreign countries.ironic isnt it..theres actually "stuff" that even illegals cant do.so hey, lets support their economy as well...:barf:..americans have to be paid min wages and...

nevermind..its all bout votes now isnt it, or is it?

I believe a felony conviction means they ultimately cannot vote (for Democrats). It means other things like longer term sentences etc., but a shrill Democrat's motives are very transparent and quite predictable. With that in mind, it is no wonder a Democrat would be concerned. Hillary's downfall will be the perception that everything she says is disingenuous.

What?

"It was horrible, horrible," Mason said. "It's ridiculous that a bunch of black students would jump on Latinos like that, knowing they're trying to get their freedom."

What freedom is that? The freedom to live illegally in America?

As long as an immigrant's migration is permanent, an alien can be an immigrant.

The two are not mutually exclusive. At least, not as long as we're using the language "terminilogical" accuracy.
No, they are illegal aliens, because it is our intention to ensure that their migration is not permanent. :p

We get stronger every time an immigrant crosses the border.
Put it in your tagline since it's your motto; it would save you typing effort.

Yup, these fine people wearing Mexican flags claiming the right to the American dream. Hold it. What's wrong with this picture?

I remarked on this in another, related thread here. If there's anything that will rile up the American public it is aliens trumpeting their alienness and demanding rights they don't have. Visceral stuff, more macho bravado than anything related to "civil liberties." One of the core issues here, often ignored, is ASSIMILATION. If immigrants are not going to embrace America as their new home, in every way, they are, Mr. President, emphatically not welcome. We don't need to move the border north to satisfy some small selfish slice of American backstabbers.

We get stronger every time an immigrant crosses the border legally.

There. fixed it.

I'm all for fixing our immigration system, which is seriously fouled up. At the same time we get serious about border control. I'm talking Military level seriousness.

Once you've made legal immigration easy enough, the only remaining illegals will be the seriously bad ones.

A few remarks about the "student protests:"

These kids will use any excuse to get out of school. Politics and truancy walk arm in arm. Who is kidding whom? The drop-out rate for illegal alien high school kids is astronomical. Huge problem for the future.

I'm still waiting to see how all this plays out in terms of black-brown relations. So far all quiet on the western front, but I wouldn't expect that to last. The American middle-class isn't the only group being "displaced." Blacks are being "moved along" too. I thought Bush might use Katrina to rebuild black tradesmanship in the SE; no, he welcomed more illegal aliens. This is a volatile situation that is likely to end badly.

When these students were marching down the middle of L.A. streets, did they have legal permits? And did the LAPD do anything to stop illegal trespass?

Let's zero in on one of the biggest beneficiaries of the whole illegal alien absorption: the public school lobby. Thousands and millions of new "customers" just waiting to be served. That means teachers but more to the point, it means administrators and, even better, school construction. Once again, follow the money, and see who's building all those schools and who's benefiting? L.A. already has a huge multi-year building program underway ($15 billion, if I remember correctly). Should we bill the L.A. taxpayer for another $50 billion to service our new amigos?

Teodoro Maus, an organizer of the Georgia protest, estimated as many as 80,000 Hispanics did not show up for work, AP reported. About 200 converged on the steps of the Georgia Capitol, some wrapped in Mexican flags and holding signs reading: "Don't panic, we're Hispanic" and "We have a dream, too."

Jennifer Garcia told AP she was worried what the proposal would do to her family. She said her husband is an illegal Mexican immigrant.

"If they send him back to Mexico, who's going to take care of them and me?" she asked AP. Garcia said of herself and her four children. "This is the United States. We need to come together and be a whole."

Read these remarks and draw your own conclusions.

All I have to say is this: We have a President--whom I have supported--who is hell-bent on nation-building in the Middle East while his policies encourage potential anarchy here at home. If he had listened--something he's apparently not very good at it--he would have known that big trouble was on the way, that illegal immigration was a time-bomb far worse than any IED or even 9/11. And the answer to big trouble is not bigger trouble. God save the United States of America.

It took my grandparents 10 years to get admitted legally to the United States and another 10 years for citizenship. One of them was a chemist and the other a physicist, both were from a first-world western democracy(as far as Europe goes ;) ). They benefited the US for a further 40 years by working/living/voting here, etc.

This idea of illegals 'earning' citizenship by simply being good at walking at night and running from the police is bound to stir up some serious crap with US citizens, when the thought of the difficulties of legal immigration to the US (and how they/their ancestors got here) crosses their minds.

JE223,

Herein lies the problem: the ruling class prefers "the huddled masses."

Perhaps we should remember that Emma Lazarus was a well-off New Yorker who had overt Marxist sympathies.

The upside of illegal immigration is that it will bankrupt the country's social welfare system faster so we can scrap it. Oh wait, or we'll all just be poorer.

Illegal immigration wouldnt be a problem if there wasnt a giant govt feeding trough for the illegals to feed from in the form of medicaid, free education and other entitlements. I cant even count the number of times I have been at walmart while some illiterate hispanic slag uses food stamps and welfare to feed her litter of pups. My tax dollars are fueling her irresponsible breeding- and this is WRONG.

The two solutions are:
-no more social welfare system
-no more illegals to leech off the system

Which is easier to implement, do you think? The wall isnt even that expensive to put up.

I didn't see a counter-demonstration. You must have all been busy. At the range. Watching TV.
Nope. Fool that I am, I was working to pay this years tax debt (as was everybody else who was working) so that these freaking parasites can ditch school and blow off work to clog up the streets with their "demonstration".

The welfare system isn't the only problem, and I refuse to toss out the baby with the bath water. We are supposed to destroy all vestiges of our own safety net, paid for with hard-earned treasure, just because some selfish pols insist on flooding America with cheap labor? No, that's crazy. Of course the welfare system needs reform, that goes without saying, but destroy it utterly, no way.

I don't believe the problem is as simple as no welfare system. If we don't demand assimilation and then enforce it, we are going to end up with a fragmented and balkanized nation that will become ungovernable. In a peaceful world maybe that wouldn't be the worse eventuality, we might discover who really wants to be "American," but right now the U.S. is ringed with political enemies who would love to exploit our problems. Too bad we have a government that seems determined to exacerbate those problems. You'd think with the external threats we have that vastly expanding the immigrants we absorb would be way, way, way down on the agenda.

Our nation survived previous bouts of immigration with no difficulty, but the last wave was really in the early 20th century, before it actually came out of our pockets. There was similar moaning about irishmen and italians ruining our nation culturally, but it never came to pass.

Seriously, I think the cheapest solution is to put up a wall and keep the mexicans out in the first place. Then take the bad ones that get caught doing crime and deport them. This will be exactly the same as now except the wall will prevent them from coming back. This allows us to keep the current number of landscapers and gardeners with zero disruption while kicking all the bad ones out of the country as they misbehave. MS-13 and the other illegal gangs should just be tossed into the ocean and told to swim home.

So my proposed solution is:
-an effective wall with guards/maintenance regularly performed
-no amnesty
-allow illegals to leave the country to return to mexico if they want, but dont allow them back
-immediate deportation of illegals that encounter the police for anythign misedemeanor and up
-no immediate effort to hunt down employers or existing illegals

This attack is right out of teh brady incrementalism playbook and I think it would work wonderfully. If not as a total solution, but as a temporary solution until something better can be devised.

I agree that a "wall," of some kind, is imperative. Of course much of the problem is already IN the body politic, you realize. A wall, literal or figurative, will slow down what would otherwise come but it won't solve any of the internal stuff. Why are we letting people who aren't here legally tell us what their rights are?

Those were immigrants who by and large embraced America and wanted to be Americans, as we have so often heard. People who insisted their kids speak English! (My grandparents were among them, by the way.)

Now we have the spectacle of illegal immigrants wrapping themselves in foreign flags while demanding rights.

The ruling class of America is giving away America--and it's not theirs to give. That is the crux of this whole issue, and the America people are just tuning into this at long, long last.

The current immigration problem is unique in that we share a contiguous border with the immigrants. They can hop back and forth at will and are not pressed to assimilate.
The Irish and Italians had no choice. They couldn't just hop on a boat and sail home for the offseason. They had to become Americans.
As evidenced by the 1000s of "F*** YOU! This is still Mexico" bumperstickers I saw on lowriders all over LA last time I was there coupled with all of the Mexican flags present at the 'American Dream' protests, many Mexicans are here just as professional parasites who still owe their allegiance to Mexico.

The "Mexico Problem," with its long historic roots and contemprary irritations, is not going to be easy to solve. The more we're told "this is Mexico" the more there will be a growing anger to take the problem back south, with a vengeance.

The only "education" those marching kids are getting is the idea that America's prosperity depends on illegal immigration and that this land is their land... That is a recipe for social rupture. Granting legitimacy to people who harbor these kinds of misconceptions is form of social suicide.

I found it fascinating that Hilary would come out politically for the invasion lobby. I thought she (and Bill) were astute enough to position themselves to the right of the globalist gangster Bush on this one.

I'm pleased to be wrong. This means Hilary is probably unelectable.

Unfortunately, on the issue of immigration the Democrat libs are on the same side as the corporate conservative Republicans--just for different reasons.

A pox on both their houses.

The wall is a great start, don't get me wrong. The thrust of my argument was the Irish and Italians *wanted* to become Americans and assimilate while it seems that many Mexicans merely want to colonise our nation and suck off the government teat while supporting Mexico.
