Colorado Sheriff "Boy Scouts = Hamas"

Well I guess the FBI's going to start watching me. I'm on file as an Eagle Scout. I received letters of congratulation from Presidents Clinton, Bush I, Bush II, the Commandant of the Marine Corps, Senator Glen, the director of NASA...I'm F'd. They all know my name and they'll come looking for me. I like guns, I'm associated with group similair to Hamas...sheesh. I better go buy a compound and start taking crazy pills.

Just in the interest of fairness

I do think this whole things sucks, but it is somewhat out of context to say the Sheriff compared the Boy Scouts to Hamas.

What he said was "It sounded like Hamas had a training camp next door."
He just got into trouble trying to give the reporter a colorful quote. I doubt seriously he actually believes the Boys Scouts=Hamas.

I do media training. Never, EVER say anything to a reporter you don't want to see in the paper. They are not your friend.

Colorado has been California

Enjoy Montana while it lasts.

I am seeing more and more California plates every year. Of course I am hoping most of them are just on vacation. After all, I do live by Glacier Nat Park. But there are a lot of them staying in the Flathead region. :uhoh:

Maybe we should start a marketing plan and tout Libby as the be all, end all of the Montana experience.

Yea, that's the plan.

I must be on the terrorist watch list too!!!
And there they go pulling the subtle "Nazi Card". They don't call the [boy scouts] Nazis, but they manage to mention that they somehow offend the Jews to the point that they can't conduct religious services. Lovely.
My first boss was very impressed that I am an Eagle Scout...does that make him a racist?

Bob R: once or twice a year, I drive from CA to ND in my pickup. I'm stationed in CA but I'm a NoDak boy, born and bred. One of those licence plates you see is mine, but I don't bring my Communist California Garbage with me. ;)

He also said people have been seen smoking near stockpiles of ammunition at the camp.

I've seen a whole lot more people smoking in and around cars, trucks, lawnmowers and other things loaded with gasoline. Ammo doesn't have fumes.

And I have my doubts about cigarette ash working its way through brass.

Aaryq,

The ones that concern me are the older ones, tooling around in their Crown Vic, a map in one hand and a newspaper in the other.

Seems they are looking for their retirement heaven. I always mention the eastern part of the state, but I don't think it does any good.

I am thinking of moving back to Spokane, for the most part, that part of Washington is never considered for these guys. They would rather go to Idaho or western MT.

If you ever come through Highway 2, let me know, I bet I could find a cold one and some beef to throw on the grill.

Most of the Californians that move to this part of Montana either "go native" or else they were decent folks who finally moved away from the madness. I know of a few other Colorado-expatriates as well. ;)

That, and the miserable weather - either too hot or too cold, and all the nasty critters. Even the tree huggers start to shoot things after a while :D

I think it;'s a sad state of affairs when the boy scouts cannot do fund raisers, and I know that they had ammo stacked so high that if a Cig was thown into the pile it would have left a mile wide crater. Sorry, but what a bunch of yahoo's.

"The noise was unbelievable," Dunn said, adding that it was enough to scare the elk, deer, and birds in the vicinity. "We haven't seen them since."

This is B.S. I shoot weekly at a range where here are geese, deer, and wild turkey just beyond the range of our shotguns. We see this almost weekly. Doesn't seem to scare them away. I think the only thing scared of the noise are the local idiots.

Frangis said in a letter to commissioners that the fundraisers the Scouts planned this year potentially could scatter thousands of pounds of lead from shotgun shells.

It would take 28,000 12 gauge rounds to get 2,000 pounds of lead into the environment. That's 1,120 rounds of trap. This is if you miss every single clay. The ones you hit will obviously contain some of the lead shot. This can be removed when you field dress them, or at the dinner table. Duh, idiots!

Sounds like the old story about the dumb people who move in right next door to an Airport then start to complain about jet noise! I can not beleive the ignorance and stupidity of some of our bretheren Americans!

WHAT HAVE I DONE!!!!!!!!!!! I have 2 Eagle Scouts AND a Cub Scout!!! I guess I should just go to the nearest Fed. officer and surrender.

Any range needs to make sure of two things...

That their land is zoned both commercial and agricultural.

That their bylaws (if a club) state that upon any forced closure, the property will be utilized as a pig farm.

The pu**ification of America continues right on schedule.

Zero tolerance you know, now go take a ritalin Tommy and play nice with your dolly.:barf:

Sniper X

Yup, some people moved from a big city and bought 5 acres off the internet, next me in order to experience the rural life. They called the Sheriff to complain about the cows mooing across the fence!!!:banghead:

I sold the 16,000 acre pasture they were complaining about to a developer, who split it up and sold it to 212 new landowners.
They got no garbage, no power, no sewer, no water, no nuthin', and little hope of gittin' it.
It's 30 miles across my land to a paved road, 40 miles to water, groceries, and mail.

Now, they got something to bitch about.

Its all about money closing down shooting ranges and buying them up for Malls and more Sub-Divisions. It is easy to turn the public against shooting ranges big profits to be made here. Note one of the fellows had been a local Poltico for 44 yeas is involved. Follow the money trail.

I already wrote a letter to the sheriffs office basically telling them that this comment was in extremely poor taste.

Thats right Oneshooter. Remember the viking rule of thumb: Whats shiny or crying is mine. Whats burning and smoldering is YOURS.
