Hey y'all,

So I'm thinking about letting one of my 1911s go, and after looking at the rules for the Trading Post, I think I need a bit better idea of what my Colt Combat Elite 1911 is worth.

It's the older model, with the spur hammer and short grip safety. It has the original rubber wraparound grips, but I also have the Colt rosewood checkered grips installed. I don't have the original box, after an unfortunate incident with a puppy, but do have the two Colt magazines, one stainless steel, one blued.

Cosmetically it's got a couple scratches here and there - around the bushing and slide stop mostly - essentially all the takedown little nicks and scratches that accumulate.

Mechanically the pistol is very sound. I just had an excellent 'smith look it over, and after changing out the recoil spring and firing spring, he says everything looks great. I am having him change out the plunger though, as it is just the tiniest bit loose. These things happen, right?

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It is hard to say what it is worth without pictures but off the top of my head $600 to $750 depending on your market and actual condition of the gun.

Can't go low enough without knowing more, but I would agree tops would be $750. If it's a "specialty" CE, like a Pachmayr, it might be worth more.

Some older ones stay stock and are probably worth the most. Others have been modified, for better or worse.
