I made a thread months ago about the mainspring breaking on my Cobra. They agreed to send me the lone part, but only if I voided my warranty as a result of self servicing. Anyways I got the part and successfully installed it. Suddenly I heard a loud pop while it was just sitting on the table. I grabbed it and it was locked up. I removed the side plate and the hook had broken off the hammer...under the tension of the new spring. I called Colt and set up a paid RMA. I shipped the gun off and waited for my invoice in the mail so I could pay for repairs.
Invoice never came so I called weeks later and it was in range testing. They had went ahead and did everything for free...regardless of the fact they could have charged me whatever and I'd have had to pay it. Either that or my expensive gun would be worth nothing. They even had it in writing where I previously agreed to void my warranty in exchange for the mainspring. I talked to them a week ago and it should be back to me this week.
Colt has their flaws but they did me a huge favor.
