first off i did a search. but you try typing "Colt" "Officer" "AR15" in and see if you can wade through it all

ok, heres my questions

Was there a Colt "officer" model AR15?
What type of AR is it? M4 type?
What differentiates it from another Colt model?

What would you estimate the price at?

i as because a friend may have the chance to buy a pre ban one. ( in MA, preban still means something)

ya, was thinking that but the guy selling it is a LEO. the guy looking to buy it is a former Air Force Security Forces member, so he atleast knows the difference of a pistol to a rifle.

maybe hes saying Officer and means Patrolman ( isnt that a popular class of AR rifles?)

Doesn't mean much. Not to say LEO's are a bunch of bozo's, but when it comes to gun knowledge, you can really get a mixed bag. For example, the McCall ID city police had a machine gun that was donated to them by a local. I can't remember the details, but I think they "converted" it to shoot semi auto, in the process creating an illegal fire arm. The ATF was not impressed. I was at a gun show and a guy selling AR parts/stuff was told me that BUIS is a good brand for folding iron sights. This guy SELLS the stuff and he doesn't know BUIS is an acronym for back up iron sight.

Officer's model is a 1911 as others have said, I'm willing to bet either he got confused and called it the wrong thing or someone else told him a farse.

well iv been given an estimated price, and its very low for a colt, never mind the MA premium on preban guns.

i think he may be confused on the name. il find out more in the next couple days.

well id hope hed know enough to tell the difference between a rifle and a pistol.

It may be that he's confusing it with one of the LE models. Colt makes/has made several models for the Law Enforcement market.

Maybe he doesn't mean Officer as in military officer.
If it's a LEO marked Colt, the "Officer" is the cops!

As in "yes officer, no officer!

rcmodel

There are plenty of Colt AR15 models which are intended for law enforcement use, and marked accordingly.

Particular example: the Colt 6933 is dubbed an "M4LE" model - "M4 for Law Enforcement".

I'm sure, but he's probably just confusing the nomenclature. I had a guy once tell me that he had a model 70 Winchester Springfield chambered in 30-06. We all know it was a Winchester Model 70 chambered in 30-06 Springfield, but you get the idea.
