I have fitted Colt 7 1/2 38 Spl. barrel to my 2nd gen SAA. I had to set back one thread to get the correct index on the front sight. This places the ejector housing stud .050" back also. I want to be able to switch back to the original 5 1/2" barrel so don't want to machine .050 off the shoulder of the ejector housing and prefer not to buy a second Colt housing.
I believe my only option is to remove the ejector stud from the 7 1/2" barrel, machine another stud with the threads offset .050 to replace the existing stud. I've consider milling the existing stud out of the barrel but this a last resort.
If anyone has remove this stud from a SAA barrel, how did you do it.
