I have been experimenting I used 2 tbs potit to 4 tbls of boiling water in a dbl boiler to but it is to thick I am getting a thick crystaline film on it It is drying as we speak. I only bought a lb of potnit so I don't want to waste it

I also made a batch w/ sulfur & charc. & potnit & soak the paper
??? I'll let you know how it turns out. Or doesn't.

Does potnit soaked paper leave EXTRA RESIDUE it does in a tin can ??

I think you should buy some of manyiron's flash paper and eliminate the need to experiment.

No, you don't need to mix in charcoal and/or sulfur, and you do need to use the right kind of paper so ash doesn't remain.

Nope!

Has ta be 100% cotton stuff ta work right anythin else tha acids jus eat er up! Thas why fer those that aint gettin it; NITRITED CELLULOSE AINT THA SAME AS POTASSIUM NITRATE. Never has, never will be.

nitrated paper not flash paper

I had good results from from my paper. I used plain old news paper and I used 1.5 cig. papers they are both good. Cig p's burn cleaner . News p's are more sturdy. they both burn well

follow the previous instructions after the paper has cooled and dry ed scrape the excess off w/a plastic knife carefully set a match to it to test

Look at the above for an old recipe for gun cotton -- which can be used with paper made from cotton. It is a LOT different from just adding KNO3 to paper. Also a lot more dangerous to prepare.
