A few admissions before I make my point. I am an older shooter and have been around. Though I have never been formerly trained I have owned and fired a variety of pistols over the years from just about every manufacturer.

I have only started carrying for the last 15 years or so. Though I doubt I'll ever need to use a gun for SD having a pistol with me is a satisfying aspect of my shooting interest.

My first ever semi was a S&W eight or nine shot 9mm. Then I tried a Beretta in 9mm. I had two Berettas in fact. I traded "up" to a Walther PPS in .40 but it was too jumpy in my hand. I fooled around with SIGS P226, P250, and P238 before settling on my first GLOCK, a G-42.

Now we can debate the merits of the GLOCK and the .380 for a long time, but what has happened is that I have found a pistol that I like to look at, shoot, carry, and trust. We have become long time companions. It is the gun I have settled on. (much as I have settled on the 6.5x55 for deer) Note that I do prefer pocket carry and the Alabama pocket holster in also the best of its kind that I have used. The GLOCK is not my only semi but the others stay home when I go out.

What make, style, and caliber gun has found a permanent roost for you as an EDC choice?

I find the discussions about our different choices and why we make them very interesting and believe strongly that caliber or brand bashing is unnecessary.

I carry a shield 9 most days. In the "winter" a Glock 19- but not much winter in my future since I moved to Fl.

My average, local zip code, everyday gun is my lcp.

It stuffs in a pocket, or boot, or waistband with ease. Very discreet. I don't think it's cool, or macho or pretty. It's just a tool.
The chain of events that would lead to me NEEDING more firepower in my everyday routine is so unlikely......

Now when I get out of my happy little world, I usually have a 9mm or a .45acp 1911, or even my 5.56pistol.

In my case, my choice of CCW has changed over the years, as my dress mode and body shape has changed. ie; as I'm retired I dress much more casual and have become shall we say, a bit more portly than in my youth. In that time, I've migrated from a 1911 45ACP Officers model, then to a SIG 9mm on the belt, to todays S&W 640 .357. Over time, I realized that increased size/weight or capacity doesn't mean much if it's not always with you. The 640 is always in my pocket.

Its funny how folks differ. I just can't pocket carry a revolver easily. Perhaps my pocket holster is too thick, or thigh to belt ratio. I just find it easier to have a gun belted at 2 oclock.

As Armored Farmer put it, my average local zip code everyday gun is my S&W Body Guard 38; weighs nothing, I can pocket it, though I usually don't. I have a Taurus PT145 and a PT1911 for when I feel the need for more horsepower.

I too am an older shooter, 82 in fact. And I still try to get to the range every couple of weeks. I have several Glock, Sig, Colt, and S & W. At the range, I like to shoot my G17 and G19. The S & W Mod. 36 is no fun to shoot and the Colt .45 is very difficult for me to rack with my reduced hand strength so they stay home.

I have my LTC but don't carry often. When I do carry, my choice is also pocket carry with the G42. I added a Talon grip and Pearce +1 mag extensions. These additions make the G42 feel great in my hand. The G42 is accurate and with the proper ammo, I feel very comfortable carrying it.

I've had 4 carry pistols in my life: a gov't model 1911, a Glock 19, a Ruger LCR and a Shield. I don't know if I've found The One, but I sure am enjoying the Shield.

Springfield XDS IWB in summer
HK P30SK in winter in a Stealth Gear Flex OWB holster for spring, fall, and winter.

Ruger LCP with pocket clip, carried in a Desantis Ammo Nemesis pocket holster. A total of 13 rounds. Since it will hopefully never be fired in anger, I feel well heeled with it.

.45 ACP 1911.

No matter how many times I convince myself that I need more rounds, or a lighter gun, or a different caliber I always make my way back to the 1911.
My very first pistol of note was a Springfield 1911. As a novice hand gunner it was a scary piece for me and I had a lot of respect for it. I remember that it was somewhat fussy about which magazine I used so that's when I learned to number them to tell them apart. It is the only .45 I ever owned.

The coffee cup is nice touch in the picture. I think you have a good photographers "eye"...!

I like my Glock 23, 40sw and my Taurus 617 wich is a 357 snubby. Both are great shooters and depending on my feeling I carry either or.

I switch around between a 1911 (pictured to left), Glock 19, Glock 26 or Glock 43 depending on the heat index.

On some occasions I'll tote my Glock 30SF.

I always carry a Kahr CM9 in my pocket. If I'm out and about I'll carry an additional pistol along with the Kahr. Depending on how I'm dressed and my mood I carry one of the following: Ruger SR1911, SAR B6PC, CZ75 SAO. They all run great and I feel confident with each. I'm able to shoot daily to keep up my skills. Hopefully I never have to use em.

In a semi-auto my EDC would be a Kahr CM9. It's the perfect size, weight, caliber, and with it's smooth DAO trigger, very quick to get into action. Works great from a pocket holster or with an IWB holster.

If you want to talk revolvers, then I go with my S&W Model 638, again either with a pocket holster carry or an IWB design.

I don't carry big pistols well. I'm an athletic guy in my 30s, but just about anything short of a mousegun gets left at home. I've spent over a grand over the years on holsters and rigs and all manner of carry methods. They are uncomfortable if they don't ride in a standard jeans pocket.

I've settled on a pocket .380, currently the very good shooting LCP II. If that's too big or if I want the deepest of back ups, I've grown quite smitten with a little NAA stuffed in my watch pocket.

That said, if concealment is no issue, gimme a big ol' full size pistol. I could edc a full size SIG 320 if I weren't worried about concealing it.

I like to carry full-size, and lately a FN 5.7 is handily light, and quick on the draw.
But I also like to pocket carry, and I found a CZ70 beater that's nice, recently.

I have the FN too, light but BIG. To me it is the perfect survival weapon. Firepower of an AR but in a holster on your belt.

.357 LCR in Nemesis pocket holster. Go to range and practice with it 2 times a week.

I gave up my P5c when I got too many silly high offers to buy it, so it went. Now a Glock26 is my carry.
It is an easy shooter that carries two more rounds.
