FIrst I want to apologize for the glare. Couldn't get the natural light I needed.

The CW9 is brand new and will replace my RAMI as an everyday carry gun. The RAMI hasn't met the standards for a trim, and tall guy such as myself, and the controlls are difficult at best.
First thing I noticed that I can not represent for you guys is the EXTREME difference in weight. Obviously the RAMI is very heavy with its steel frame.

While the CW9 has a longer barrel (3.5 as opposed to 3) you will notice the over all length of the RAMI exceeds the CW9.....

Obviously the single stack CW9 is much slimmer than the double stack RAMI....

The CW9 comes with a factory single stack, 7 round magazine (9mm). While the RAMI comes with one doublestack 10 round magazine (9mm).....

The nose comparison reveals the CW9 is consistantly slimmer than the RAMI on all fronts....

The Frame on the CW9 is 100% plastic, while this model RAMI is Steel with rubber grips. Despite the simple grip, I find the CW9 gives a stonger and more secure hold on the gun....

The RAMI with its 10 shot mag double stack mag leaves no room for my pinky finger despite my slender hands....

The CW9 has a very slim grip, but I am still able to hold it tight, my pinky does not hang off the bottom of this grip...

I enjoy the egronomics of both these pistols but prefer the CW9. The asthetics of both hands guns is pleasing. I find the DAO long and smooth kahr trigger safer and faster than the DA /Cocked and locked RAMI (RAMI has saftey but no decocker). I find the RAMIs controls difficult to manipulate, which worries me about preformance during a state of duress.....

Both are great handguns, but the RAMI doesn't comapare in the features that I'm looking for.... I hope you enjoy the write-up guys!

I bought the CW9 and it has been my everyday carry gun for awile now. Its defiantly the best for me cause its so thin, and light weight. I own a CZ 75b Stainless model, so I really wanted the rami, however, its way heavier, wider, and so much harder for me to conceal. So everything you said I agree with, great post!

I bought and currently own a RAMI but I am looking at a CW9 for all the reasons you mentioned.

While I like the fact that the RAMI can use mags from my SP01 sometimes I find it a bit too thick to conceal properly. Also, the slide release is useless for releasing the slide because it takes way too much force to use.

I also noticed the sights on the CW9 sit alot lower on the slide, and the agressive checkering on the grip adds to the control. All & all well designed.

In my opinion the RAMI kicks very hard for a 9mm, despite the heavy frame. But with the 14 round extended mag the control increases considerably. The CW9, with WWB FMJs kicked less than I expected for such a light synthetic framed handgun, so far I'm very impressed with its overall performance. The only aggrivating thing about my particular CW9 is that the rear sights were wayyyyy off... Its an easy fix but the are no where near bullseye, and that seems like an oversight from Kahr to me...

RAMI's weight is my main issue. Add in the extra from 10+1 vs 7+1 ammo load and its too much for my IWB. RAMI is a great gun, I fancy guns small for their caliber so I've no regrets getting it, but for carry I go with the Kahr PM40 or S&W SC360 .357 J-frame.

The CW9 or CW40 is nice, but if the RAMI is hard to carry look at the PM9 or PM40, in the long run the extra cost is minor.

Thanks for that comparison. I like the idea of the RAMI, because I like my Cz-75 very well, but a) it's heavier than I thought and b) compared to many, incl. the CW9,, it seems to have more grabby / angular surfaces to get caught on things.

Of course, the upcoming Kahr in 9mm Kurz has my attention, too ;) Too many great guns in the world -- we have to decide among varying degrees of "great" ;)

CW9 Outstanding

Have never fired the Rami, however, I love my CW9 it has replaced my P11 for everyday carry.

Make your CW9 even better: ARMA Laser, half the price of CT and really great for us young (66) shooters.

The 14 round extended magazine increases the RAMI controllability considerably. 'Tis bulkier that way, but goes to 14+1 ammo, too.

My wife, who is recoil sensitive, has no problem at all shooting her RAMI, with either magazine.
Never tried that Kahr, the last one I did had nasty trigger finger pinch.
Thanks for the review.

Thought the RAMI had an alloy frame and only weighs 25 oz. The plastic framed RAMI's weight is only about 1-2 oz less.

There is an alloy framed, steel framed, and plastic framed RAMI. I have the steel.

Never been a production steel framed RAMI that I know of. Started as alloy, based on the alloy frame of the Colt Z-40/CZ 40B. Now a poly version available too. Never saw a steel, unless you have a one-of, which CZ has been known to sell, 20 or 30 examples of something, never to come in again.

Interesting pics. The RAMI's definitely a puggish critter in stock trim (without the mag extension).

Never fired a Kahr yet. I'm not big on polymer frames. Kinda seems lately like the Kahr steel-frame guns are considered passe or something, but I'd love to try a K9.

wht a shame

sure wish they would leave all that RAMI names and model crap off the slides of these guns. Just trashs up a good gun. I thibnk most owners know what thye bought, most all the semi, have the caliber stamped on the barrel hood. Stop there and clean up the slides and frames with this unnecessarys tuff. Personlly the rami is one butt ugly gun with all that writing on it.

This RAMI was actually the first handgun I bought, at the time I was very new to the world of firearms so I listen alot to the shop owners selling me guns :)
From what I remember, I had the option of purchasing 2 Non-Plastic framed versions of the RAMI, one was alloy framed, about 20 bucks cheaper, and the one I got was "supposedly" steel framed, and plus 20 bucks..... Its VERY possible this guy just scammed me, seeing as how I was young and ignorent....

I was planning on buying a RAMI for my first CCW. I'm waiting until I get to shoot one though. I love CZ pistols, though.

Thanks for the information, Seven.

A magnet will tell if you've been scammed or not as to the steel frame.
