I'm looking at getting into the NFA game, with my ultimate goal being a suppressed SBR in 300blk. I would prefer not to engrave my lower, so this means buying a complete rifle.

Noveske's Rogue Hunter line looks nice, but their pricing seems screwy. An 8" upper is $975, complete rifle is $1655. Their 10" upper is also $975, but complete rifle is $2350. I suspct this is just a mistake, I emailed to find out.

Does anybody make complete SBRs in 300blk other than Noveske?

C3 Defense in Hiram, GA does.

I got a factory SBR stripped lower from them a couple of months ago. I didn't want to fool with the engraving either, however, you don't have to buy a complete rifle to get a SBR registered lower. Since they were local to me, I picked up my Form 4 & lower from them directly.

When I was there, they had a 7" 300 BLK complete rifle build that was very cool. If you don't see what you want on their web site, I would give them a call.

I'm waiting on a 9" 300 BLK upper to complete mine.

Nothing wrong with a complete rifle of course, but engraving is pretty easy. Just ship your lower to Orion Arms while your form is in process; they have it turned around in about a week when I have done it. Depending on how much your C3 dealer wants for a transfer fee (at LEAST double a normal transfer fee around here, usually more) it might be cheaper overall.

Well its an extra $700. For that extra money, you get a complete lower with some enhancements over a basic complete lower: MOE grip 20+, a magazine, a $130+ Vltor stock, Novekse end plate $25+ on that lower, troy sights which are $200+. Plus there is value (if not any real functionality) in having a marked and matched Noveske lower to go with your upper.

Thus if you say a regular complete lower can be had for $220 or so the difference in getting the complete rifle is not hard to account for.

Personally, last time I bought a Noveske I got the upper and put it on a lower because it was cheaper and I was able to set up the lower how I wanted it.

I've eyed the rouge hunter and will likely do the same thing. The price surely isn't a mistake though nor is it anything out of line with what one is getting IMHO.

According to the listed prices, they're asking $680 extra for the lower on the 8" gun, but $1375 extra for the lower on the 10" gun. Unless I'm missing something, that's surely a mistake.

I agree, the $680 isn't a bad price for their complete lower, assuming the FCG is something other than GI parts. Then again, if it isn't exactly the way I would build it and I end up unbolting parts, I may as well build from scratch and deal with engraving...

First I should note the sights seem to be included in the lo-pro not the rogue hunter so that was a mistake on my part.

Exactly. That is one reason why I have bought the uppers and put on my own lower. Even when the price is the same, I get the parts I want. Of course what the Noveske comes with is quality stuff but sometimes one just prefers something different.

An 700 made a lot sense to me given what one is getting. That same price difference on the hunter is a bit odd when it doesn't come with sights. And an extra $1375 for the lower with no sights on the 10" hunter? It does seem odd. That is a pretty heavy premium to have the little stamp that shows the whole gun came complete from Noveske. Interesting the 10" lo pro is $1k more for the whole rifle than lower and includes sights. The 10" rogue hunter rifle is $1300 more than the upper and doesn't.

You've got me, I'm not really able to make sense of that pricing scheme. Let us know what Noveske says.

On my last 5.56 Noveske the difference was $740 (actual 840 as I got the upper on sale). Although it was not a bewieldering difference given what it came with I didn't think it was worth it. The gun runs just fine on a CMMG lower with an ASAP plate MOE grip and CTR stock and a troy sight all for $460. So it saved me roughly $300 (I likely would have switched to the ASAP anyways). I don't plan to sale the gun so I don't care about a full noveske rifle having more value or anything like that.

$1300 gives you a lot of money to get the engraving done, and outfit the lower as you like. That is the route I would take.

Noveske replied that the 10" 300BLK Rogue Hunter full rifle should be $1655, the same price as the 8", and now it's fixed on their web page.

Over the summer I ordered my 10" Rogue Hunter and paid right around $1650.

I have noticed Noveske is now selling a Gen II lower which does add to the cost... (I think)

In the end, great rifles and worth the money.

Mine should be here end of Dec. or early Jan. Does anyone else hate how long the BATFE takes just to put a stamp on your application?

-I'd rather not have my trust name on the receiver
-If I sell it (doubtful) the new owner will have my trust name on his receiver
-Engraving detracts from the appearance
-It most likely will take two driving trips to the engraver, plus the cost it takes to get it done

All the reasons above are a little silly, but together I figure they're enough to warrant looking for an alternative. I just need to decide whether the benefits of buying a fully built rifle outweigh the drawbacks of not having it built exactly how I would build it.

You are going to be paying 10% tax when buying a complete rifle. That's where some of the extra cost is. Get a factory ar lower that's been registered by the mfg. There are a few around. Then stick whatever upper on it you like. Still if I were rich I'd just buy the complete gun.

AAC will be selling these after the Shot Show:

One of the cooler SBR lowers you can get is either a KAC or get a rifle Colt 6921 and put a BLK upper on it.

- Have it engraved on the front of the magwell or under the trigger-guard. Both places are very inconspicuous.
- Once you go through the time/expense and hassle of the NFA process, selling one will seem very unappealing.
- See my first reply above.
- A stripped AR lower fits fine in a small USPS flat-rate box, so you'd be in for about $10 shipping round-trip. The cost of having the actual engraving done is minimal.

What I did on my last SBR was build the virgin lower up as a pistol. That way I could actually take it out and shoot it while I waited the 16 weeks for my stamp to come back. When the stamp comes back, throw your stock on it and you're GtG. If you order a factory SBR, it will have to sit in your dealer's safe all that time, and that's no fun for anyone.

I've had Orion do two SBR lowers and an SBS. All three times my experience was top-notch.

Sig is doing a line of factory SBR's - and they will have offerings in 300 BLK.

I'm hoping that my 10.3" DCA barrel arrives tomorrow so I can do some "holiday upper building" this weekend. I just have to decide which forend/rail/tube I want to use.

Luckily, I already have two registered SBR lowers I can throw it on. No waiting for this one!

Just go the *smart* way around, permanently affix your suppressor to your short 300 blackout upper :D

Or you could just get a CMMG factory SBR, and get a 300 blackout upper for it, or contact them they might make you a factory SBR in 300
