Tinpig:
Unfortunately, here in OH, our Politidiots have included the Post Office on THEIR list of free fire zones.... It's a Felony....
Which leads to a question: I use stamps.com to print my postage for about anything but packages that are too large to fit in the drive-up slot. The Post Office rules say I'm a Branch Post Office! So, can I carry in my own office?
Not to start another thread, but the reasoning provided in your post may not be an accurate interpretation. I've seen it both ways.... My vote is that you're correct, but YMMV, and your state may have it's own nasty surprises there, too.
There's also a bit of craziness with regard to School Zones. A non-resident license is NOT Federally honored in a School Zone. It's only valid in the issuing state.... The way the law seems to be written, you really can't carry when driving by a school.... (From a practical standpoint, you can ignore this unless you get arrested for something else....) Meantime, here in OH, the State has chosen to upgrade the Federal law, which seems to at least allow transit of the parking areas by licensees (OK, OH licensees) to lock us out there, too....
(We did get the ability to pick up or drop off our kids, but not spouses or significant others, and there's some grey areas in getting out of the car to put little Johnnie into a booster seat, or help little Susie if she falls down. You still can't leave your weapon in the vehicle, which means that if Ms. Witchbreath wants you in the office posthaste, or if your youngster needs to be rescued from the Nurse, you have to run home and ditch the gun first....)
The really fun part is explaining this to somebody who's not from OH, or, in some cases, to Ohio LEO's who don't know about some of the aracana....
