Contrast Savage Vs CZ 22LR?

Poser, I'm sure the Savage BV can do the same w/o difficulty from even an occassional target shooter. I've seen .650 inches at 100 yards with Remmington Cylone HV in their 452 American using front solid rest. He lives in Northern WI. I think the Savage BV will do the same with the right target person with their ammo. What rifle does better is one HUGE issue. It would be nice to see some experienced target shooter test results from the Savage group at 100 yards to really compare the 2 in accuracy. The 10/22 also. Is one really better than the other at 100 yards? So many variables??

one thing about the cz 452 line you could get a unique .22 with a full stock which in its own right is different from the bunch, feels more like a high end rifle than a .22, and shooting it with irons is awesome, how i shoulders up etc... and accuracy is pretty dang good to boot, doubt i will own a savage cause all i got is czs:)

some of my best shots at 50 yards scoped, dont need one hole shots cause this will do just fine

I'm with you Jeff, I like a little bit of variety so I try not to buy duplicates. Some may be the same brand or chambering (but I don't own a single one of the same model & chambering), but most all are well suited for one particular use without much overlapping. The only problem is that said uses are starting to get somewhat narrowly defined (e.g.: one rifle for a certain type of ammo, another similar one for something a bit different) so I can justify the "next one". ;)

my bad, let me rephrase that. i only have a small collection of firearms but my cz firearms out number the other variety of firearms i have.

Jeff56 This post will surprise most of the readers, here.

The semi-auto was bought by myself, from a Sears or Penny's catalog (can't remember which), and shipped to me in Alaska. This would have been in 1957, and I was 15yrs old.

(The bolt action was given to me by my father, who won it in a poker game.) sbs

CZ's shoots great and look's beautiful and Savage's shoots great but look's cheep.
That's why they cost more. Can't get nice walnut for $200 but Savages do tend to shoot out of proportion to their modest price tag.

Do all the Savage guns have the same actions?
Yes.

You gentlemen & ladies need to think about obama's policies and the massive loss of jobs that have occurred over the past 2 years and the need to consider buying American whenever possible and keep the jobs here. The Savage rifles will give you a solid platform for targets or game and are a good value.
The CZ's are nice rifles, but do not do much for our economy.

Just consider buying American made.

I'd be more inclined to agree (and FWIW I generally do purchase Am. made goods) IF most all major firearms production facilities were not pretty much run by the unions...I say buy Winchester!...made in SC, where folks have to earn their keep. [/rant]

:)

I own both...the savage is a good rifle but the CZ feels like a rifle...much better fit and finish as well.

That's true, job dollars do stay here, but the core money is still part of FNH, a European company who owns the rights to the Winchester name now.
Very true, but better than a three-headed dog (AKA: Cerberus) IMO.

:)

I would typically agree in general but not in the case of firearms. Besides, Savage rimfires are made in Canada.

Plus we need to stop letting half our work force ride the gravy train and do nothing. There's so many who do nothing they drag our whole economy down.
^That!

P.S.: I think we're starting to veer a bit...we probably aught to get back to the subject of how great these two rifles are (which is something most of us can agree on...no matter which is our favorite).

America certainly needs a strong small arms industry or we could find ourselves in a pinch.
Indeed but personally, I buy the gun, not the name. Which I view as completely unlike buying Chinese crap from Walmart. There are some things you just can't get domestically. Can you really harass somebody who bought an Anschutz, Steyr, or Merkel for not "buying American"? That said, I think my dozens of Rugers, Colts, USFA's, Winchesters, Marlins, Remingtons and S&W's more than make up for the lone CZ. ;)

BTW only the Savage rimfires are made in Canada.
That's what I said.

People like you are going to he...yeah, I've got one too (and plenty of other imports to go with it).
