I currently wear a Milt Sparks belt which I think is pretty good, it is also getting old and it is time for a new belt. As I mentioned, cost isnt an issue, I just want the best most supportive 1.5" wide leather belt available. I dont need any fancy stitching just a black leather gun belt. Please dont mention the wilderness belts, I have one of those, but I prefer a leather belt most of the time. So, anyway befor I sign up to wait 24 weeks for a new sparks belt, I want to hear some opinions on any other companies out there. I carry in only sparks leather, but if someone else made a better belt, and didnt happen to have a 6 month wait I would consider going with them.

You will get a zillion answers I guess, but I have never had anything but great luck with Tucker.

I have several belts and holsters from them, I'm very happy.

4 weeks is the claimed turn around. I don't believe I've ever waited any longer than that for anything.

A lot of the Texas Rangers use Tucker leather.

Milt Sparks is tops. No question that Tony Kanaley makes good belts. Lou Alessi is as good or even better, at least insofar as making CCW belts that look like dress belts.

Mitch Rosen.
I've been wearing the same belt almost daily for around a decade. Structurally it's in fine shape, needing only a staining refresh.

8 years ago I paid 10 dollars for a standard cop belt at a uniform store. A thick piece of leather is a thick piece of leather, there is no way around it. Find a thick piece of leather, and wear it. Thats what I did, and it works great. I bet the thing is good to go another 15 years.

FYI, the beltman makes the belts for Gunners Alley. Heck of a nice guy, makes one tough belt! I have one of his standard belts, I can only imagine his optional plastic stiffener belt would hold up a truck! :)

My belt is 2 pieces of leather cut with the grain in opposing directions, stitched together with a plastic stiffener in the middle. A thick piece of leather does not a gun belt make.

I have a beltman horse hide 1.25" belt and 3 of his holsters. "They" are a two person shop, Jim, the owner, and a very nice young lady who I can't seem to recall her name. You could get pink elephant... :neener:

what do you all think about the plastic stiffeners the beltman offers? I generally carry a usp full size 45, but I wasnt planning on getting the plastic stiffener on a 1.5" belt, your thoughts?

I have Sparks, Rafter S, and Tucker. The Tucker is the one I wear everyday due to it's thickness - holds everything in place nicely. The Rafter S is my bar-b-que belt and it's very good, but not the same thickness as the Tucker.

I use the Rafter S OWB holsters & pouches everyday (I think their holsters are some of the best OWB you can get).

I have heard nothing but good things about Tucker, but that 4 week thing? Fuhgedabboudit. I have a belt on order from before Christmas (during which they were apparently deluged with orders), and am still waiting.
If you want a Tucker, I suggest checking on current lead times first, unless time is not an issue.
