Couldn't decide between Sig or Kimber...finally did.

Congratulations, nice looking gun.

I have the same recommendation regarding the P227 that I had for the P220 Compact (P245), make sure you can find mags and recoil springs for the gun. The P227 was very short lived in the line-up, and also never terribly popular. Make sure you get some extra mags when you can find them.

You also may want to see who makes a holster for the gun, though I suspect you could use a holster for a P220, P226, or P227 Carry as long as it's for the non-railed model. I'm actually not sure if any of the Carry models had a rail.

When I was deciding between the Model 227 and 227 Carry, I handled them both extensively and the choice was a hard one to make. Previously, I had opted for the Carry version of the Model 220 and, though I was never disappointed with it, I came to question the relevancy of the very slightly shorter barrel. I don't think it conceals any better nor do I think there's much difference in the handling of the two pistols. I arrived at the same conclusion when debating between the Model 227 and its slightly abbreviated brother, the Carry. The longer pistol rides comfortably and well-concealed in my Galco, iwb "King Tuk" holster.

All that said, you can't go wrong with either variant, just individual preferences and reasons.
