So they're harvesting organs - so what?

Who needs morals when one has money, or rather, cheap guns. Would you have directly financed Hitler in the way some people wish to support the Chinese govt. through buying from Norinco?

I think you need to remember your history a little bit. Until Pearl Harbor, there was no real public sentiment against either Japan or Germany in the US. Declaring war against Japan was pretty easy, and declaring it against her treaty partners was sort of a gimme, that would probably never have happened but for PH.

There was a fair amount of support for Germany from the NE elites, especially guys like Joe Kennedy.

Hitler declared war on us, BTW - to support his Japanese allies. Many US companies were trading with the Nazis and some had a sordid history during the war.

BTW, I know the difference between Taiwan and China. Also, a UK company owned by Dubhai owning our ports is the same damn thing unless one is a mindless Bush sockpuppet.

Which doesn't make it right, especially when it was known to many what Hitler was up to (for example, Margaret Sanger who founded planned parenthood praised the Nazis' eugenics programs in her writing, read by many people). And actually, there was public sentiment against the nazis, particularly after Crystal Night, it simply was not to the point of wanting war, isolationism was the dominant idea at the time.

Still haven't read up on it have you.
Dubai Ports killed the deal themselves after there was so much uproar. Besides which no body was selling any "ports".

unless one is a mindless Bush sockpuppet.
Trying to lock the thread because you can't understand all the big words or something?
Honestly you folks try to bring up anti administration propaganda which didn't fly the first time around on a regular basis.
Why don't you move to Red China, I'm sure you'll be welcomed with open arms, of course it won't matter how cheap those potmetal AK's are you won't see one unless they put you up against the wall and drill you with one.

Also relations with prewar Japan were pretty good, and GE and Westinghouse were building factories there.
Back then the US was a major oil exporter and Japan was one of our best customers.
Americans donated millions of dollars for the Tokyo Earthquake victims.

PS
Since few seem to have actually followed the Dubai Ports controversy

From Wiki of course.
The contracts under consideration are for the management of numerous American ports. Critics of the deal claim that this is tantamount to “outsourcing” national security, given the vulnerability of ports for terror attacks or as an entry point for Al-Qaeda operatives. In fact the labor would still be 100% American and part of the Longshore Union.

The Bush administration and other supporters of the deal made the following arguments:

The U.A.E. has proven itself a strategic partner by allowing the U.S. military access to its land, ports and airspace for basing and operations in Iraq and Afghanistan;
The U.A.E. has allied with the U.S. in the Global War On Terror;
Blocking the transfer of operating rights held by a British firm to an Arab firm appears discriminatory against Arabs;
Security would remain a government responsibility as always, and performed by the United States Coast Guard and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Israel's largest shipping firm, Zim Integrated Shipping Services, came out in support of the deal.

"During our long association with DP World, we have not experienced a single security issue in these ports or in any of the terminals operated by DP World... We are proud to be associated with DP World and look forward to working with them into the future." Zim Integrated Shipping Services CEO, Idan Ofer, February 22 2006. [17] [18]

Dubai Ports World eventually sold P&O's American operations to American International Group's asset management division, Global Investment Group for an undisclosed sum.[1]
Unlike Norinco Dubai Ports had a sterling record.

Managing the loading and unloading of cargo by American Longshoremen is not controlling the port or its security, thats the job of the US Coastguard.

"Would a petition circulating around gun shows and the internet do any good? I'd like to see some cheap Chinese stuff come back."

Send the petition to George Bush at the White House. The ban on Chinese guns and ammo is the result of an administrative action by Bill Clinton. George Bush refuses to lift that restriction.
