Coyotes - day or night
I have called / hunted coyotes for years, starting with a reed call back in the 70's, then a Jimmy Stewart cassette rig with a remote speaker, then one of the newer wirelss units. At night I work close, with a red lensed spot and a shotgun. During the day, my BIL work in tandem and we see coyotes during the day usually around 50% of the time, when we make a stand. I have killed coyotes at dawn, noon, afternoon and at dusk, here you never know when you are going to see them. I have had them in my yard during the summer when I was mowing.
As I mentioned in my previous post, I live along the river bottom. I have the Wabash river directly to my West and a large creek bottom directly to my East ( why I live on the high ground). There are two big stands of timber to my North and South. As a result we see a LOT of wildlife, especially this time of the year when there is no foliage.
I was sitting out on the front porch around 2300 hrs the other night, sipping some scotch and a coyote walked by, about 20 feet away.
