I don't believe they were referring to the take down pins, but instead to the fire control group pins (the ones that hold the trigger and hammer in place). At one point Colt used a different size pin, but recently I believe they switched to the standard size pins.
What he said.

colt 6920 is what I have. thought about the noveske and stuff but the lower is no better than colts. the barrels, with polyganol rifleing and stuff will be a little more accurate for a longer while then the chrome lined barrel, but it will be a battle rifle. Most likely would not be using match ammo so that would negate the need for match grade accuracy. Also, the full noveske rifle is quiet a bit more expensive than the colt 6920 at this time

i've yet to see any m4-like offering that matches the specs from KAC's SR15 E3 IWS. beyond the specs, it is light in the hands, and just well-balanced. i can't imagine better w/o going SBR

the only thing it's missing is a light and an optic

Does Colt still use non-standard sized take down pins and lowers?

Colt has used standard size (.250") takedown pins on all of their rifles and carbines for at least ten years.

Just answerin' the question;)

Here's my CDLC M4gery. Just a basic set up, but good parts nonetheless.
