Yet another NY Times article on how the gun law passed in CT is becoming a major issue in the CT governors race. It's a very close race, with the possibility of change in their law. The republican challenger is somewhat pro-gun, or least he is until the election is decided.

Bloomberg is getting worried and is starting to put some funds into the dem. incumbent's war chest.

Here's the article: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/10/25/n...-connecticut-governors-race.html?ref=nyregion

A fascinating saga with all the colorful characters you could want. :scrutiny:

Hopefully, Foley pulls it off. Anything or anybody that worries Bloomie can't be all bad! :D

If Connecticut keeps messing around with gun laws maybe Colt will move in next door to Beretta in Tennessee!

Too much truth in there to be funny.

Colt: Florida.....

Colt already has a new, unused factory floor in central Florida.
The firm has reportedly paid local government officials $50,000.00 back of a documented $850,000.00 USD used to encourage Colt to hire/staff a production site near Orlando Florida. :uhoh:

Colt has yet to say openly if they will ever move any factory workers or utilize the Florida location as contracted.

My guess is: Tom Foley has as much chance as a "closely compacted sphere of super chilled H20, invading Dante's Inferno"

Too many screaming liberals and "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme" bottom feeders voting in CT to have much hope. There are cities here that actively provide legal ID and Drivers Licences to undocumented persons.

The local TV ads are pretty virulent and emotionally focused on Foley's success as a businessman, and they all turn him into a capitalist oppressor. And unfortunately, anything 2A related in CT turns into a Sandy Hook roadshow.

I'd love to wrong about this, but Connecticut is far from being "The Constitution State" that they advertise on my cars licence plate.

More accurately, it's the "Constipation State", our local leaders are full of ....

The polls show Foley and Malloy in a dead heat. Foley only lost by a couple points last time he went up against Malloy, so while I think the odds are against Foley, I'm going to express a more optimistic view than Steve, above me.

That said, Foley has pretty much said that if he is elected governor, he's not going to be pushing to repeal our bad laws. He'll sign a repeal if the state congress brings it to him, but he's not pushing it. Foley gets a B- rating from the NRA. He's just enough on our side that he's not going to hurt us, but he's not going to help either. It'll just stay status quo for as long as he's governor.

The only guy who would actually help us out is Joe Visconti. Unfortunately, he only appeals to the hardcore, one-issue gun rights voters. He is showing about 10% at the polls and I'd be surprised to see him get even that much when push comes to shove. He's a hardcore gun-rights guy, and would be the best guy for this specific cause. He's just not electable.

Even the NRA, CCDL are giving their endorsements to Foley because at least Foley could get elected.

Malloy is an anti-gun cancer and almost lost the last election. He's a NY wannabe who is a puppet to the NYS big boys. Anyone would be better than he is/was. When Malloy pushed thru the midnight legislation, I vowed to leave CT behind. I did. I can't say how happy I am to be out of that state.

Ct is not gun friendly...................... The legislature that is.

Which is a horrible pity considering how much CT owes to the firearms industry. I wonder what our state would be without Colt, Marlin, and Winchester funding us through the latter part of the 19th century. Then in the 20th century, Mossberg, Ruger, and numerous smaller outfits (PTR industries, Charter Arms, CVA, Connecticut Shotgun).

Unfortunately for the state, Ruger has jumped to AZ and NH, Winchester is gone, and Marlin is now being produced by Remington. So we've lost the giants. Bad for the state, but frankly quite good for the companies.

Add MagPul to having their magazines manufactured in CT as well. I have family up there and was up there at the beginning of the month for a visit. I love how the state looks and some of the things that I got to experience up there, love the pizza, but the restrictions up there are frustrating. I would love to see change, for the better, come around for the state but from what I have heard, it most likely won't.

Malloy is a cancerous anti-gun puppet and I'm glad you are enjoying life in wonderful North Carolina, Larry. I go to Cashiers,NC twice a year and my hunting rifle always comes along.

I think you finally found a permanent home. :)

I think you finally found a permanent home.

I couldnt agree more!

NC seems to be a wonderful place.
The only complaint I have is the drivers are the worst I've ever seen and I've driven more miles than most people ever will.

Hey, larryh. Never driven in Boston, I see. NC drivers are all like pro's when compared to Boston and surrounding area.

FN has found a great home in SC, by the way. We wish more good companies like FN would consider making us their home.

Just in case people from CT are on THR, and otherwise living under a rock, Visconti dropped out.
Visconti was the hardcore gun guy, but he didn't stand a chance at winning, and he realized it, so he dropped out and endorsed Foley in order to help defeat Malloy.
The problem is that because he dropped out only two days before the election, the ballots are already printed and his name is still on the ballots. So DO NOT VOTE FOR VISCONTI. He's not running, and it won't do any good.
Foley is not GREAT when it comes to guns (he has a B- NRA rating), he's a lot better on that issue than Malloy.
