Hey guys, after a lot of consideration I have decided not to get into reloading. That means I have a lot of brass laying around that I no longer need. I am planning to sell my brass but not sure of the current prices. All brass will be as it was picked up, not polished or de-primed. Here are the calibers I have

30-06 Greek Surplus
303 British
30-30
223/5.56
9mm
40 Cal
45 ACP
32 ACP
38 Spec
357 Mag
7.62 Nagant
30 Carbine

Can anyone tell me the going rate for once fired brass for these calibers? Thanks!

The last batch of used .357 I bought was about $.17 each. New Starline is $.35 ea.

.30-30 new $.65 and used $.35

Check out "Buy/Sell/Trade Reloading Components" subforum.

Should give you some idea what brass are selling for - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?forums/buy-sell-and-trade-reloading-components-and-gear.50/

Thats where I look when I'm thinking about selling brass. Here and the other forums that I'm on. Look at what prices sell and what hangs around. You will need to decide if you want to milk every penny out of them or if you want to move them and go on to something else.

Some advertised prices on forums are way too much. You've got to check all sources, individuals, stores, new and once fired. Decide what you are willing to pay now, and what you have to get now. Prices are all over the place. There's plenty of old guys trying to help new guys, too. Some of it is free. Jump in.

I have seen used brass prices all over the map.

I think a fair price for once fired brass, cleaned but NOT deprimed, is about 30-40% the cost of new, and up to 50% if deprimed. But that is based on what I’d feel good selling it at.

That said, I prefer to trade with other reloaders or even give away to new reloaders. But nothing wrong with selling.

I try and find a mutual trade wherever possible. I'm not here to make money, I want us all out shooting
I hear what you are saying but for some people, times are tough financially. I want to sell my brass for a fair price. I’m not looking to rip anyone off but I also want to maximize my return on investment. That’s why I asked the question before just posting them for sale. I don’t have the luxury of watching the market for several weeks before I sell these. Just trying to be a decent guy to my fellow shooters.

?? Maximize your return on investment?? You have no investment other than picking up range brass, yet you want other to research the prices of 12 different calibers?? Unknown quality

Look up once fired brass from several companies and determine you price, It's not that hard and not like watching the stock market.

Sure seems like a for sale thread to me!

If you see a thread you don’t like you can just move along. I’m not asking anyone to research anything. I’m just asking if anyone has recently bought or sold brass for these calibers a current price would be helpful. If a moderator thinks this is a for sale thread they are free to delete it, but I’m pretty sure asking about current market value is ok.

Prices depend on source, pictures, condition. From what I have been watching, commercial sellers are higher than individuals/auctions. The "about average" prices are as follows. This is all anecdotal from what I have been seeing, price will vary a lot week by week and region to region.

30-06 ======= 0.25 - 0.50 (commercial. dirty- processed) /// 0.10 - 0.50 (individuals. dirty - cleaned) Overall average seen around $25/100
303 British === don't see it it often. I've got a few random in mixed brass for about 0.10 each for whole package.
30-30 ======= 0.25 - 0.50 (commercial. dirty- processed) /// 0.10 - 0.50 (individuals. dirty - cleaned) Overall average seen around $30/100
223/5.56 =====0.05 - 0.10 (commercial. dirty- processed) /// 0.02 - 0.05 (individuals. dirty - cleaned) Overall average seen around $50/1000
9mm ======== 0.03 - 0.07 (commercial. dirty- processed) /// 0.01 - 0.05 (individuals. dirty - cleaned) Overall average seen around $25/1000
40 Cal ======= 0.03 - 0.06 (commercial. dirty- processed) /// 0.01 - 0.05 (individuals. dirty - cleaned) Overall average seen around $25/1000

No, that's the great thing about online forums, you don't have to agree with everything. If there is a thread that you disagree with, you can post as such.
You certainly were asking for others to give you prices on 12 calibers of brass, when it is very easy to look up yourself. Just like someone asking for a load data for a 38 special 158 grain bullet with 5 different powders.

Seems that Goofball84 was kind enough to provide you with lots of data

You’re right, Goofball84 was very helpful. You are not.

@KDS also factor in your market vs. prices online. Here on THR, you have people with lots of resources for brass. I seen 30-30 brass that’s would sell very fast elsewhere, but sit here at $.20 each for weeks.

You can do your own research by going to gunbroker.com and doing an advanced search for sold items to find out how much they actually sold for, not just the asking price. :)

I believe in doing my own work and feel others should when the can.
I calculated my ROI on looking up price points and calculated it would be a losing investment!:neener:
very common caliber with have more of a market but at a lower price, uncommon calibers will be the opposed, less buyers & higher price

Can anyone tell me the going rate for once fired brass for these calibers? Thanks!

The price of the brass is just one part of the equation....the other part is shipping cost. The out-the-door price is what matters to buyers.
And what kind of quantities are you talking about?

I'm with Buzznrose. Unless it is picked up as you say and not cleaned then I would probably pay about 25% of new.

My comments were just my perspective and not a swipe. I get the tuff times and if you need cash to fix a fridge or air conditioner then that's just reality...
