Ccoyle;

I like good slings, and I like to put them in good swivels. If you go to Midway's site, check out the Outdoor Connection "Titan" swivels. They are very good detachables & don't tend to come apart at an inopportune time as did one of my Uncle's swivels. The slings I use are from Turner Saddlery. They are 1.25" (they will not make a 1" sling) and absolutely top notch leather, metal, and workmanship. Not cheap, but very, very, good.

The 1.25" carries on the shoulder better, the adjustments of the 1907 type military sling let it fit the vast majority of shooters and rifles, and the looks will never embarrass either you or your excellent CZ fullstock.

First Blood

I took my new rifle to the range a couple of times for practice and sighting in. I have it sighted in at 75 yds, which in these brushy parts would be a long shot. The scope is a loaner for the time being, a fixed 4x with a thick cross-hairs that I don't care for, but the price is right.

We are now into the second week of rifle season in this part of California, and I found this guy this morning. Took him with one shot using PPU 139 gr JSP - neck shot severed his jugular and dropped him like a stone. As I said, 75 yds here would be a long shot - this one was only about 35 yds.

I am very happy to have filled my tag for this year and extremely pleased with the performance of the beautiful CZ 550FS. This California mule deer is the first game animal taken with the new rifle, and hopefully many more will follow.

Cheers!

What a nice lookin' deer, congratulations!

Sounds like a compact 2-7X scope, or something in that kinda magnification range, should work quite nicely on that gun. Enjoy!
