(Elvis?) Judging only overall quality, durability and accuracy; disregarding job-specific advantages a particular model may have.

CZ.............but only because you asked which one. I have both and like to shoot both. If I had to part with one I would keep the CZ.

CZ75B

Its the most bang for your buck, accurate as heck and well made.

The XD9 is not slouch either.

Both have the ability to carry 15 rounds. Trigger goes to the XD9.

The CZ, while the XD has been around for a little while, CZ has far more experence. CZ tends to have Beretta/Glock/Sig quality at lower prices.

I would suggest shooting both if you can, then choose. I have both and I like them equally. The XD fits my hand better but the CZ is more accurate. Mark

I've got both, love both, and they fit my hand. Tough decision. If I were *forced* to pick one, it would probably be the CZ. But I'd miss the XD.

The official AR15.com answer would be:

GET BOTH

Otherwise, I'd get the CZ. Both feel pretty good in my hand, but the CZ has a smaller upper half, and the bore centerline is much lower, so there should be less muzzle flip.

It might come down to which one you prefer...the steel frame or the poly frame. I've got very limited experience w/ the CZ, but I might lean towards the CZ 75 just because I've filled my poly gun niche w/ my USPs.

Have Both...

I currently have both the CZ 75B and the XD-9. Both have been superb in all aspects. Both are well built, and I have had ZERO problems with either. If I had to get rid of one of them it would be the XD-9. Luckily I can keep them both. The CZ is a little more accurate (for me) and I prefer the feel of steel in my hand. I also love to be able to carry the CZ C&L.

Personally, I dont think you can go wrong with either. It is all about which fits you best in this case. Both are of extremely high quality. YMMV

Get Both!

~Mike

Ive shot both and have had many CZ's....biased? Yes... Fair....Yes also.
Id have to go along with the group on this one....get the CZ.
The XD is a stellar weapon but the original HS that SA bought and made their own, was the same gun at half the price. IMO....
Shoot well

Wrong question.

Which to get first?" Right question.

Two really good choices but worlds apart in personality. Try this.

After you've personally made sure both are unloaded, try shutting your eyes and bringing each up to presentation. Which is closer to on target when you open your eyes. That's the one for you.

CZ baby!

Go with the CZ first. It is a better weapon IMHO. The XD would make a good companion at a later date.;)

I own both. I prefer to carry the HS and shoot the CZ at the range. Of course I wouldn't mind doing either.

HS fits my hands better and has the better trigger, but the CZ is a noticeably better shooter for me. Looks, hands down to the CZ. The HS is one ugly gun.

Love em both.

Further thoughts...

If they are the same price and both fit your hand about the same… all things being equal… which one to get? Well, they are both about the same in regards to accuracy, and are both very reliable.
I think this is a matter of taste as both represent 2 different schools of thought in terms of what makes a good defensive handgun. On one hand you have a traditional all metal, hammer fired, double action/single action automatic. On the other hand you have a polymer framed, striker fired, single action automatic. The trigger feel is better on the XD. In fact, my XD trigger is better than the trigger on my last 1911.
However one of the advantages the CZ has is that it allows the owner to change the grips to change both the feel and the look of the gun… customization is a huge factor in America. (search for my remarks about hottrodding handguns) The XD doesn’t allow this because the grips are actually the frame. The CZ will also allow you to have the whole pistol to be refinished however you want it to be refinished. You can’t even really call it “Refinishing†anymore because of all the finish options out there now that are often better than the original factory finish.
The XD, you can get the slide refinished, but you are forever stuck with that polymer frame. Hope you like the color.
If you are comfortable with a Glock, then the XD is the choice. If your down with the “Practical and Tactical†approach to defensive handguns, then the XD is very much the choice here. If you are one who likes polished steel and wood… the ability to change things… a more refined appearance… then the CZ is the way to go.
I’ve had a couple CZs (in 91 and in 2002), and I currently have an XD. Actual pros and cons are both high on pros and low on cons… your splitting hairs trying to make a comparison between physical qualities. So all you have left are these esthetic issues.
Different points in my life have given my different tastes. Right now, at this moment, I like the little XD, and thus the XD is my choice.
Tomorrow morning, it could be the CZ.

Everyone's input is very much appreciated. Sounds like I need to rent both and see which one wags its tail when I pet it. Much obliged. Ed

RIP, Mr. Cash.

45R,

You mention both can hold 15 rounds. Does this mean that the XD takes preban mags from another pistol? Is that true in both 9 and .40? I am considering a full size XD, but don't want to be limited to the factory 10 rounders.

Factory 40 mags work in the 9mm and hold 15 rounds(it's legal too). With the 40xd it's pretty much 10 rounds. Mark

CZ- I own two of their guns and couldn't be happier with them.
OTOH, I have own Springfields and they always disappoint me.
I would go CZ every time.

I know this is an old thread, but I am having this debate myself. However, I am debating between the xd9/xd40 tactical with the 5in barrel and the cz75. can anyone compare the tactical to the cz75?

i've never considered getting a CZ, only currently considering a XD-9 Subcompact.

So... my choice will be the XD-9. But, I've never shot a CZ either, but they look like quality pistols.

Maybe try making a pro/con list of each pistol and seeing which is more towards your advantage.
