I picked up an SP-01 yesterday, set about trying to dismantle it for inspection, and determined that it doesn't have the lineup mark behind the rear slide serrations. There's a mark on the frame but not on the slide.

So.

How far back is that lineup mark supposed to be?

On my 85 Combat, which should be similar, the slide projects about 3/16ths of an inch to the rear when the marks are lined up. And the mark on the slide is 3/16ths of an inch behind the last slide serration.

A 1/4 inch might work, and 3/16ths should work.

Using those measurements given just try a few spots in that area and lightly tap the stub of the slide release sticking out. When it lines up it'll snap through. With a good light you should also be able to peek around the rear part of the release lever and see when the cutaway in the slide lines up with the port in the frame.

With the slide stop out you can line up the port where the mag follower finger fits and then mark your slide for next time. A small cut with a small size triangle file touched up with some cold blue will make it permanent.

Got it sorted out. Thanks, guys.

I have a Kadet upper to go with it, and am in the process of trying to get it properly fitted (filing off some material on the front of the rails). I'm close, but I'm tired, and finishing can wait until tomorrow.

FWIW, there's a trick--assuming it's the same as my PCR. They like to keep things similar, inside.
Pull the hammer back to the half-cock notch. Pull the slide back until it contacts the hammer.
Boom. Perfect alignment.

I also had to do some file work to get the Kadet conversion onto my P01 frame. Just go really slow and check the fit often.

Interesting. You usually have to remove metal from the underside, where the slide stop is inserted.

I had to do a small amount of filing on the inside of the slide rails in order to get it onto the frame. I used a square Swiss file to do it with and went very slowly, constantly checking the fit until I had it just right.

Sounds like you wisely did it carefully.

Generally, when fitting is required, it's not the slide that must be adjusted, but the lug area under the barrel, which sometimes doesn't fit in various versions of the 75B. Your's is the first case I've read (or heard) about where that was a problem. Is your kit, by chance, one of the newer Kadet KIT II models?

Happily, the beauty of the Kadet Kit design is that fitting doesn't seem to be critical -- just getting it on the frame is the most important part.

That's because the upper unit (which is the barrel, the housing (that looks like a slide, but isn't), and the sights) is a single unit, and there's little or no chance of "play" or movement, even if fitting is a bit on the loose side. The only part that moves -- the rear of the unit -- doesn't have any effect on barrel/sight alignment -- because those pieces are, in effect, locked together. If you use the sights, you should have an accurate unit.

I suspect you'll be very pleased with the accuracy. I sold a Ruger MKII Target Competition (stainless, with the longer, slabsided barrel), because my Kadet Kit was just as accurate. The 75B (and now 85 Combat) grip just fit me better than the Ruger. I still have another Ruger MKII, though.

I picked up the Kadet Kit about 4 years ago, the same time I bought my P01. The clerk at the store gave me such a great deal on the conversion kit that I just had to get it.

OK, I have an older Kadet conversion kit.

What's the difference between the older Kadet and the newer Kadet?

That might be it. The Kadet Kit wouldn't work on several of my pre-Bs because their hammers were much wider, too.

That might mean that the Kadet Kit II would work on a some of the earlier pre-Bs. (Some of the later pre-Bs were almost identical to the B models...)

Asked on a CZ forum and they said the Kadet gen 2 doesn't work on the P series pistols. Can you link to the youtube video you alluded to?

No Duty series for kadet or kadet 2.

Kadet 2 works on all other 75 derivatives including the P02 and 75 Ω. Original kadet will not work on the steel frame omega guns.
