I'm thinking about getting a new handgun and really like this model. The local shop has one and I like the feel. The price tag however is $803.00. Looking around briefly online I can find much better prices but I've never gone the online route. What would you guys consider a fair price? Also is there any reason not to buy used, they're supposed to be durable guns from everything I've read. Thanks for any info

I'd buy used if the price was right -- and I could handle the gun, check the trigger, see the general condition before taking ownership. That said, I've not seen many used Stainless CZs for sale.

The Stainless CZ, while having the same grip (ergonomics) as the standard CZ, has a slightly different frame with an extended beavertail, ambi-dextrous safties, and (I think) a reversible mag release. Those are nice things. But if it's just feel you like, other CZ options are also good. Be sure you're getitng the level of GLOSS you like, too. I love the matte finish, and don't care for the highly polished stainless; others go the other direction.

I've done a lot of transfers (buys and sells) via internet connections and have only been burned once, and that was a scald not a burn. (Something wrong with the gun was easily fixed.) If you are dealing with folks who have a known good reputation, as can be found on sites like this, it's generally a good thing. Be warned, however, that SHIPPING CAN BE VERY EXPENSIVE, and if it's not included in the sale price, find out what it will be. (FFLs can ship via mail, private parties can't ship directly by mail -- and Priority Mail with insurance [shipped to your local FFL] is a fraction of the UPS or FedEx costs.)

Mr Sherrill gives great advice. I would like to add a SS version to my glossy one and will one of these days. Really excellent guns, as you can tell if you study this forum a bit. I have seen them for $675ish on Gunbroker and as long as the freight is reasonable and your FFL has a fair transfer fee, that is a good way to go.

Thanks for the advice I wasn't aware shipping was so expensive. Gunbroker is where I saw some good deals. It would be nice to find a used one but I think that I'd have to go online. I would like to handle it first. I do like the ambidextrous controls being a lefty. The extra fees for shipping and transfers are starting to add up, making the online purchase lose some of its appeal. I will keep looking for a couple weeks but I might just end up talking to him and see if I can talk it down a little. Thanks again.

FYI, if you buy online from out of state you don't pay taxes. Not sure where you live or what your sales tax is, but if you assume 5% sales tax on a $800 price tag, your talking $840 OTD assuming the price at the LGS includes the transfer fee.

If you find it online for $650, pay $30 shipping, $30 transfer fee, your talking $710 OTD.

Not saying these are accurate numbers for your situation, just an example and something to consider.

The link above takes you to Bud's Gun Shop, which included shipping in their price. You should be able to buy it, transferred, for less than $700.

$800 is absurd. A great gun but not worth that much. And that's coming from someone that adores CZ's in general, especially the Stainless.
