One of the local gun shops has the CZ Tactical on sale. I know most people like the CZ in general. My questions are how does the CZ 75 compare to SIGs and Glocks in regards to maintenance, trigger pull(and reset), reliability and so forth. I'm looking for one 9mm for my home and range. Oh, and is there a .22 conversion kit for these? Thanks

I really like the cz guns, I have a 75b and a pcr, and they are great shooters. Very accurate, easy to maintain. Springs are probably the only weak point and wollf can take care of that cheaply and easily.
There is a 22 conversion called the kadet, I am going to get one, they are very cool and very accurate.
There are some very knowledgable cz folks here, PCRCCW is a moderator at http://www.czforum.com/, go there for all the info you can handle.....tom

CZs are incredibly reliable and great guns for the money. They aren't SIGs however. Their triggers aren't nearly as smooth and they aren't finished as nicely. Their triggers are very consistent, however, and they break cleanly at the same point with each pull. They also don't fail to go bang.

I personally like the CZ grip better than the SIG 226, which I found was too large for my hand.

It shouldn't be long before the other CZ groupies sign in here and start telling you what a great gun the CZ is. They're telling the truth.

IMHO, CZ's are the best value in guns. You can pay more money for a gun but you won't get more gun for the money. My $0.02 worth.

I'm a big CZ fan, and have several.

The only downside for the CZ is that some folks with small hands or small fingers may have trouble with the long DA first trigger pull, if you're not comfortable with "cocked and locked" carry/starts.

Hi-caps are still cheap. (And the .40 S&W 10 rounders work well in the 9mm models, giving you cheap hi-caps.)

Fit is very good, but finish in some areas (in non critical areas like inside the slide) is not up to the superior Beretta and SIG standards. But the gun is $200 - $300 less and shoots at least as well. The polycoat finish is very durable. I have several in the CZ nickel finish (which, I understand, is being discontinued, to be replaced with a silver polycoat.)

The guns seem to just POINT naturally about as well any gun on the market, and the accuracy of my guns has been astounding.

(I've had a CZ-75B, CZ-40B, and CZ-97B, traded themaway for various reasons, not having to do with their accuracy or reliability. I still have a CZ-75 [not a "B"], a CZ-85 Combat, a CZ-75B Compact, and a CZ-75B SA on the way...)

You could do a lot worse.

I have a Glock 34 that I love, but got rid of my SIGs a while back. Have had a couple of Berettas -- a 96 and Vertec -- and don't want any more.

I just looked at them at the local store I frequent, $399.00 gets you the kershaw ken onion knife and the gun. $20.00 more than the regular 75b, pretty sweet deal.....tom

Wow...ok, Im slow today :D

Yep.....er, ok.....CZ Groupies"...hmmmmmmm. Are these types that hang out by the CZUB factory and yell and scream when a new shipment leaves....wanting the truck drivers autograph? :scrutiny:

In general, I can rant and rave about CZ's all I want and 96% of the posts you read about them are people in love with them. They are THE BEST BUY in guns today.

Id have to agree, ALA DAN...you just hold your tongue buddy :D, they arent up to Sigs in a couple of areas....Total machining beauty etc.....
But they do absolutely compare with them in damn near every other quality..accuracy, reliability, balance, ergonomics (most like the CZ as one of the best feeling guns they have ever picked up) etc, bla bla.

The OD green Tactical is just a 75B in a different guise. The Kershaw knife is another great favorite of mine...........good price, great quality........

Shoot well

CZ is discontinuing the satin nickel finish and replacing it with silver poly?

Aw, man. That's not good. I think CZ's satin nickel is gorgeous...

Guess I'd better get one soon before they're gone.

I've promised myself I'd get a 97B, an 85 Combat, and now I'm thinking of adding a P01 to my drool list. Especially if CCW passes in Kansas. Need to write my legislators again. . .

PCRCCW,

No insult intended with the groupies comment. I consider myself one of us, and I know we are significant in number. (I don't have any autographs though.)

I agree that the CZ 75 is a much better gun than its price indicates. I have two (including the 85 Combat), and I'd like to find a PCR to keep them company.

Thanks for the repsponses. I figure for $389.00 plus the knife I can't go wrong! Thanks again.

We don't know for sure that the satin nickel finish is being replaced by a silver polycoat, but clues point in that direction.

Last year one of the senior people in CZ-USA noted that the finish was being replaced by the polycoat, but that CZ-USA was trying to get them to change their minds about it.

More recently, a Czech participant on the CZ Forum had problems with the finish of hs (rare) satin nickel CZ-97B, and sent it back to the factory. They said it had been a bad finishing job, and they refinished it at their expense but noted that if it failed again, it would be replaced by a silver polycoat finish.

Don't know what ANY of this means, for sure, but it seems to hint that the finish is on its way out. (Apparently its a difficult finish to do well, cheaply.)

I've been thinking about getting one hard-chromed, and that may be the best alternative.

I got this baby for $399 and I love it. You certainly can't get more gun for the money.

What's the deal with the sights? I have seen them advertised with the Novak low mont style and the standard. I thought that the Novack style was part of the "Tactical" package???

Re. the Kadet

I have a CZ85 combat - have had it for a year or so, and it is the gun I shoot most.

I bought the Kadet .22 conversion, the other day. The dealer had to do a bit if work on the slide groves to get it to fit (the CZs have very tight tolerances), but after he did, it worked beautifully.

500 rounds on the first outing, and not a single failure.

Aside, of course, from the two rounds that never fired, no matter how many times I tried - I blamed that on cheap ammo.

But then, cheap ammo (1100 rounds of Remington .22LR JHP for $17? I'll never find that price in 9mm) is why I bought it.
