Hello all,

I have been looking for a new carry gun for a long time. Narrowed it down to a few with the Sig P239 on top. Now I have looked at a few CZs that have caught my eye. Looks like the P-01 and PCR would make for a good CCW (whatever is on their homepage looks sweet) http://www.czub.cz/

Does anyone have any complaints of CZ guns as I am not familiar with them and can't find a local place to rent one. Hows the aftermarket as far as holsters and magazines? Would you say stick with the P239 over a PCR?

Thanks again,
Michael

No real complaints at all. CZ's are one of the better makes of handguns out there. The PCR is one of the best of the breed.

But I think the SIG P239 is probably the better gun. That would be my choice of the two.

You mentioned three of my top choices for CCW. As far as the availability of certain guns for loan or rental, I rarely see CZs available. However, if I'm at the used gun counter at the local range, they will from time to time let me shoot one of the used guns they have for sale. You might try that approach.

The 239 will have a better trigger, which counts a lot to me. It's also a bit thinner than a PCR. Holsters are much, much more available for the 239.

I'm going to go against the grain. I've owned three P239s, but I prefer the PCR for carry. It fits my hand much better, holds more rounds, and is equally reliable and accurate. It's also at least a good $150 cheaper in most places.

To me, these are two different category of gun, 14 rd. cz vs. 8 rd 239(someone said there are 10 rd. mags for 239?). I go for really thin kahr k9 7rd. and step up to hi cap cz when I can carry bigger, just my .02....tom

I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with a Sig 239. My PCR is dead on and more comfortable to shoot. Yes, I like the grip and high capacity of the PCR a lot more. A better comparison would be a Sig 228 and the PCR. Now that is a tough choice, but I still would choose the PCR. YMMV.

I had 2...now just 1 :( Ive owned, shot and loved Sigs...Ill take a 229 or 225 anyday of the week...given no more bills :D
I also love CZ's...big shocker huh?
Between the 239 and PCR..it depends if you have a history with either maker...Ive shot Sigs and simply dont like the way the 239 feels...but alot of people buy it just because its a Sig...one of the few reasons I feel isnt justified. It doesnt feel like a Sig to me or my hands. Its not as small as everyone rants about....Go ahead let me have it...I still think its a stellar weapon...but its damn near as big as the 225. Its also a single stack....I would also get a K9 Kahr over one.
The PCR is just as light, same length, barely wider and holds 15 rnds with the hi cap mag. I make damn good rigs for them also!
So there :neener: The PCR is as accurate, runs like a freakin timex, perfectly sized (given capacity) for a BUG or main carry.

Both are wonderful world class guns...get which one fits your hands and budget at the time....you cant lose.

Shoot well

CZ Forum

Michael,

I own three CZ handguns and intend to own a few more. Models CZ 75BD (9mm), CZ 75B (40S&W) and Kadet (22lr). They're keepers because of their reliability, accuracy, and ergonomics.

When I wanted to learn more about CZ firearms I went to the CZ Forum, www.czforum.com . It's the most comprehensive sight for CZ handguns on the Net. One of it's strengths is that you will find hard information and varying viewpoints from many experienced CZ owners.

While there are many manufacturers of reliable handguns, CZ's are priced well in comparison to their more expensive cousins, and are excellent performers.

While I don't have a compact CZ (PCR, etc.) I have several other CZs.

I *did* have a P-239 and several other SIGS. Didn't like the P-239: the grip was too small, and even with larger Hogue grips, I had a hard time keeping the gun from turning in my hand.

I think the P-239 is a quality gun, but it just didn't fee like a SIG, to me.

Also, I didn't care for the 8-round mag of the P-239 -- and they didn't have any good 10-rounders at the time I owned it.

It was accurate enough and mine had a good SA trigger, but I could never really master the DA/SA transition with this gun; it has not bee a problem with the CZs.

Michael, the only handgun I have ever owned is the Sig p239 and I love it. Many people like CZ but I can't give an opinion since I've never owned or shot one. The Sig fits my hand very well, my hands are probably about average to just under average size and I love the way it fits my hand. As far as accuracy goes, I think my gun is very accurate. I guess the bottom line is you can't go wrong with the Sig, but the CZ would probably serve you well and at considerable savings..good luck/good shooting

Just comparing apples.

The CZ P01 is actually a tiny bit lighter than the Sig 239. The 239 is slightly smaller, all around, though. The 228 and 229 are both bigger and heavier than the P01.

All together, the CZ is very nicely sized and lightweight, compared to the Sig offerings. The PCR is even lighter.

It's nice when all your choices are good ones.

I have a few CZs, a CZ75 and a CZ50. I like them very much. One pistol you should check out too that is very sweet is the Springfield Armory XD-subcompact. It's a very nice carry pistol.

About 5 or 6 years ago I was in the market for a CCW. I looked at everything on the market and decided I liked the SIG 239, Star Firestar and Kahr K9 the best.

I Got to handel all of them and I thought the Kahr was just a little nicer than the other two.

The SIG sits way too high in my hand and didn't point as well as the Kahr or the Star. It also had the worst trigger of the three. I know that I am comparing apples to oranges because the 3 guns have 3 different types of triggers.

The Star was becoming harder to find at the time and I really didn't want a SA trigger on a CCW if I could avoid it.

The Kahr felt like it was made for my hand but it was $150 more than the SIG 239. I was going to settle for the SIG because it was a little cheaper but still a nice gun when the clerk told me about the Kahr E-9. It was a great gun that cost much less than either the K-9 or the 239. I bought it and I loved it.

I was not overly concerned about price, I wanted the best gun I could get.

Now the RAP 401 is also in the same vein as the above 3 pistols so it deserves a closer look.

CZ 75 P-01

I love my CZ 75 P-01. Granted, I don't carry because of the "No CCW" law in O-hi-O and this IS my first handgun. I searched for about 4 months before I made my purchase. The CZ 75 P-01 fits my hand like it was made for it! I liked the P225 and the P239 but the P-01 fit like a glove. Pre-ban mags from Robert Johnson ( look in forsale forum ) 14 +1. Also the option to add a .22 conversion kit sold me on the P-01.
