I had a thread a couple of weeks ago asking for input on a CZ P-01. I was thinking about buying one and asking about the trigger (as I had read they were a little gritty). ----------- Thanks for all the positive input from you guys. I did buy one and had it out last weekend. For a gun it's size I got the best groups EVER on the first time out. For example on THE FIRST 5 shots I had a group of 1 1/2" at 15 yards. ---- The trigger is a little gritty but it didn't effect accuracy and I'm already noticing it smooth out some. ---- For all that encouraged me to "go for it", THANKS, I am VERY pleased. I really like this gun.

Re:p-01

Good choice. Don't worry about the trigger, as others have said. The trigger on my PCR (early version of the P-01) smoothed out after about 600-800 rnds. The trigger action is smooth as silk now. The only mod I've done is add an 18# Wolff recoil spring and XS Big Dot tritium front sight.

Shoot well..

Well, you will be supported in the fact that you finally listened to us......KUDOS! You will also be reprimanded for not doing it sooner and doubting us........SHAME ON YOU! :neener:
Shoot well.............glad you like your gun.....I do!

Click on the link right above this post, and get one of Eric's high quality custom leather holster for your new best buddy, and visit Hakan's site for some beutiful custom grips! Welcome to the club, those in the know!

You know PCRCCW, you are right. I had to go through Glock, Sig, Smith and Wesson, Kel Tec, Kahr, Springfield, Walther............. (I still have all those but one) before I got to CZ. WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG!!! Actually I like my others too but I didn't know just how much I would like this CZ.

Good shooting to you guys as well.

Not to be redundant, but you did well. I love my P-01. It's beautifully made, accurate, and very comfortable in the hand. After a couple of thousand rounds, I can't remember it ever jamming. I have no use for the rail, but it was a small price to pay for the forged aluminum frame.

I know what you mean about no use for the light rail. ---- Who knows, I might (probably not) use it some day. I think it looks fine with it though and it just feels, looks, and shoots like a quality gun.

If you want a P-01 without the light rail, get a CZ-75D "PCR". They are still being made and still available.

I went into the deal intending to buy the PCR. Didn't like the rail on the P-01.
I'm an old fashioned guy, own a 70 Series colt .45 ACP.

Well, after a couple or three visits to the gunshop the look of the rail began to grow on me, and the more I handled the the P-01 the more I took to the looks of it.

On the P-01 I also like the forged aluminum frame, the recessed frame release lever pin (ln the right side of pistol). I still wish the P-01 had the rear sights from the PCR.

I got the P-01. I'm also sure that I'll never actually use the rail, but after an initial warming up period, I do like the look of it.

IMHO, CZ's are the best value in guns today. You can spend more money on a gun, but you won't get more gun for your money. :D

I was looking at the PCR and liked it. But, when it came down to cast frame/no rail versus forged frame/light rail, the potentially better durability of the P-01 tilted my decision in its favor.

I strarted out thinking I was going to purchase a Sig (great guns, I have a P239 in 357SIG). The more I considered the options, cost, value for your money, I began to look at CZ's. At first I was going to get the PCR, but the more I looked at the P-01 it grew on me too. --- Ky Larry, I agree, you can spend more but do you get more? No, I don't think so.

I'm headed to the range with my P-01 for the first time tomorrow. Going with a friend who's has an HK and a SIG. He seems to be anxious to try out my CZ. So am I!

Another buddy is supposed to come and I'll get to try out his little Keltec .380.

Should be a good time.

I hope you enjoy it at the range. As I mentioned, the trigger is a little gritty but the gun is very accurate. I really enjoyed shooting it. --- I have a Kel-Tec 3-AT. It's a little handful but great for the pocket. ----- Let us know how your trip to the range goes.

I could be wrong, but the CZs with decockers seem to have slightly grittier, and creepier triggers than the manual safety CZs. Since day one, I have no complaints whatsoever with the trigger on my .40 S&W 75B; when I bought it, I passed on a 75BD because the trigger felt a little creepy to me.
