CZ quality control going down hill?

A new RAMI arrived yesterday. I sent in a RAMI B with a safety (conventional) and got a BD (decocker). My note to CZ with the RAMI explained if they didn't have any B's on hand, a BD would be fine.

The RAMI BD passed a basic function/safety/fit test, but I have not yet had it to the range. I need to go soon because I just finished assembling my first AR and am interested in seeing if I got it right.

On the second P07 front: I have yet to receive a response to my 9/11 email regarding my second defective P07. I sent a follow-up this morning with some pictures of the gun failing to go into battery with an empty chamber and no magazine. I still think there's a fitting problem between the ejection port and barrel shroud. The hammer will also drop if the trigger is pulled when it's out of battery. See pics.

I've asked for a response by close of business today. I will call American Express and dispute the charges this evening if we can't figure out what to do.

Steve

Stevemis,

In the pics of the P07 it appears that the guns are covered in grease of some sort. Is that the case or is it just the pics?

CZ ships their pistols soaked in oil in a baggie. When I got the gun, I cleaned it all off.. then lubed it properly. I noticed it was also a dud and stuffed it back in the plastic bag, so it sat in the shipping oil a second time. I didn't bother wiping it down when I took the pictures.

Good grief. At this point perhaps a swap would be a good idea, get a P01 or PCR. The P07 seems to be cursed for you. Any word on the RAMI?

You did not shoot the gun to test it for function.

Why should I waste more of my time and my ammo testing a gun that doesn't even pass a couple of basic safety tests? Perhaps you think I'm an employee of CZ or am otherwise being compensated for my time, analysis or opinion? Hint: I'm not.

If it smells like a turd and looks like a turd, I'm not going to take a bite out of it to see if it tastes like a turd, too. Besides, I don't even know what a turd tastes like.

Can anyone comment on my nickel plating problem?

CZ75B: nickel plated, coming off the slide ad CZ says its normal.

Is it normal?

I only shot 8 round. Pistol was 4 days old, now I ahvent had it for a month!

Why didn't you return it to the dealer in exchange for another gun and have the dealer return the gun to CZ? CZ has nothing to say about it. If the gun is defective return it to the dealer either get your money back or get another gun.

I returned it to the dealer and they sent it to CZ, CZ said its completely normal for the nickel to be chipped even out of the box.

No one on 3 forums agreed with CZ, but they are standing by their claim. Just trying to see what any other owners have to say.

I wouldn't mind a look if you have a picture or two. I've read the satin nickel is CZ's strongest finish, although I have a hard time with that because the polycoat, at least for me, has been tough as nails.

Not normal. If it's peeling/flaking, then the pistol wasn't prepared properly prior to the plate bath, something went wrong in the plating process, or someone used a copper-fouling cleaner and it got underneath the plating. I happen to have a dual-tone (satin nickel frame with blued slide) 75B and the finish is flawless.

I don't have any pictures...I just sent it in right away.

Hopefully this will get fixed soon.

Where was it flaking from?

Did you clean the gun when you first received it and if so what solvent did you use?

You spoke to someone at CZ and they told you the flaking nickel "even right out of the box" was normal who was it you spoke with?

tipoc

It was a gunsmith that I spoke with. He said that the slide can be so tight that racking the slide once will cause the nickel to chip.

What should I do?

He said that the slide can be so tight that racking the slide once will cause the nickel to chip.

Yeah well that ain't right.

I'd speak with someone in customer service directly. I'd tell them what the gunsmith said and that you know that that information is not correct. I'd ask for another gun. If they don't want to do that I'd ask for my money back and thell them that they had lost your business.

Over time, usually several thousand rounds or so, the nickel finish will wear some in any area that it is rubbed or comes in contact with hand, holster, etc. But in no way should it flake off a new gun.

CZ has established a reputation of standing by their guns. Remind them of this and ask them to do it now. If they don't get your money back and go elsewhere. Ain't no biggie.

If you bought a pair of pants and discovered that the zipper was broke when you got them home you'd take them back to the store and exchange them or get your money back. Guns or pants, makes no difference. Except you'll likely not go to a pants forum and complain.

I just read the whole thread.

I'll tell you this, you're a patient man. Sorry to hear about your troubles and I'm not not happy to hear about your experience(s).

To their credit, they are working with you. The down side is that if all they have to offer you is a turd, it doesn't much matter that they are working with you.

IMO, they're lucky you haven't said screw it and purchased an XD, PX4, FNP or something else. I would have.

Best to you!

Oh yea, Birdmang, the reply you received from CZ is BS! That one really pizzes me off. If it's not BS, which it is, that would mean their products and manufacturing completely suck, and they don't. Or didn't use to. Hmmm, Lets hope it's BS!
