I've been wating to get a 9mm. I want an affordable gun that takes high cap. mags. This is primarily for plinkig/ target shooting with some carry.

I've been considering either the CZ 75 D pcr compact with a polymer frame.
or a standard CZ 75 compact with possibly a nickel finish or reg. black.

Shops around here never carry these so I can't get hands on feel. I did pick up a 75 D pcr once in a shop and liked it. Whatever I decide I will have to order it.

And what about the RAMI or other models they offer?
I'm open to other ides as well.

Thanks for your sugestions,

The RAMI is a subcompact, and the mag base plate finger rest makes it a little uncomfortable for me - the Compact/PCR/PO1 grip fits me perfectly. I can shoot the wifes' RAMI, but it's not quite a good fit.
The CZ Compact is a positive safety design, meaning you have to manually decock on a live round, or carry cocked and locked. The PCR/PO1 are decocker pistols. I've used both, and they work very very well.
I will say I am not aware of any CZ coming with a poly frame other than the new RAMI. The PCR and PO1 have alloy frames. I carried a full size steel frame pistol for years, so switching to a compact alloy frame was a big weight break....unfortunately seemed to allow the stomach to pack those extra ounces right back on board....
If you like the feel of the grip, get one. It's just whether you want a decocker or not.

First off, the polymer 'frame' on the PCR is the finish, not the frame material. The PCR is very much like the P-01 w/o the rails on the barrel shroud. I've not handled a PCR, but I have a P-01 and I love it. It's an accurate, relatively lightweight, reliable gun. If I'm not mistaken, the P-01 may have an updated trigger compared to the PCR also. I'm not sure of that point. Both are compact enough to carry, but certainly not as small or light as they could be.

The RAMI is a great sub compact. The grip is short so you can only fit two fingers below the trigger guard, but that's with the 10 rd mag in. With the 14 and finger extension, three fingers is easy. Again - very accurate (taking into account the 3" barrel length), very reliable, solid, etc. The RAMI can be carried condition 1 and is also alloy - weighs about 24.5 oz empty. When put side by side with the P-01, it looks/feels much smaller.

The 75B and others that size are great pistols, but possibly a tot large for day to day carry. Certainly during the summer. Also a lot heavier than the RAMI, PCR, or P-01 with their alloy frames. More of a service sidearm than a concieled carry piece.

All the CZs are a very good value for their accuracy, reliability, and ergonomics. You could make far worse choices.

The 75 Compact has a Steel frame so its a bit heavy for a compact.
However it has a 3.9inch barrel, and is 10mm shorter in the grip than the regular cz, so its not that Compact. It actually fits my hand quite well.

The CZ 75D PCR Compact has an Alloy frame (lighter) is a de-cocker model featuring an extended magazine release, low profile snag-free sights, and a loaded chamber indicator. It also has a landyard loop in the butt...

The CZ P01 has a "Light alloy" frame The P-01 features:
A forged aircraft grade aluminum alloy frame for light but reliable day-to-day carry.De-cocker action and a firing pin block for maximum safety. The P-01 is also equipped with an M3 rail to accept lights or lasers. Generous squared triggerguard for gloved hands.Re-contoured trigger for smoother, consistent trigger pulls with a Lanyard loop on butt.

The CZ 2075 RAMI Made with "Light Alloy" The Sub-Compact CZ
CZ 2075 RAMI features:
• CZ 75 Quality and Reliability
• 6.5” long x 4.7” high x 1.25” wide
• 3” barrel
• Weighs less than 25 ounces
• SA/DA action
• Manual safety
• Low profile, snag-free sights
• 10+1 in 9mm, 8+1 in .40 S&W

Well.......first off to the other first off. CZUB has a Polymer framed PCR in there lineup...same with the Rami. They arent available in the states yet but will be in the next year.....you will start to see stuff out on it in the near future.

Most of the Poly comments do come from the guns poly coat finish.

For plinking Id get a steel framed gun. They shoot better for most people.
I plain and simply love the PCR for an all around gun. But mine are carry's, range guns....can killers etc. If it was plinking Id have an SA 9mm.

Shoot a couple and see what you like..............Shoot well

get them all. Seriously you've got good info here. Take a look at the group buy forum, there is a group buy happening on CZ's right now. Prices are great.

I agree with PCRCCW. I have a CZ-85 all steel for range ops. I had it converted to Singla Action before the SA's came out. I am buying another SA in the near future. Excellent pistols. Whatever CZ you pick up check out Eric's holsters, they are top notch.

Sunshine pump switched to off.

After much research, and long nights just thinking about which CZ to get, I decided on the PCR, I don't need a light rail, and like the decocker. Its a great range/carry / all around gun, that is very accurate, and durable. I am very happy with my choice. The PCR, and the P0-1 are almost the same gun.

If you like the CZ-75's but want a truly affordable firearm, look at the EAA witness. It is a copy (not clone) of the CZ made by Tanfoglio (Italy) and sells for ~$350 new. Rock-solid, reliable and accurate. Not going to have the pretty blueing or wood grips of the CZ, but for $200 less it might be something you can do without. The Witness is also available in .22 LR, 9x21 IPSC, .40 S&W, 10mm Auto and .45 ACP (Price goes up a little with these other chamberings)

I bought my PCR new when they first came out several years ago. It serves me well for carry or range use. Of all my guns, it feels the best and I am the most accurate with it. I love the decocker. It has never failed me.
Get one and you will be very satisfied!!

CZ-100. I do apologize - I haven't thought of those poly pistols in quite a while. The 100 and non imported 101 are said to be fine pistols, even though I tried the trigger at the shop I worked at, and didn't like it much, nor the grip angle. I know of one individual who loves his, so that's good. I just haven't seen them on store shelves for a long time....so kinda forgot, which is embarassing....
A poly PCR will be interesting....rather have a stainless 40 compact..... :p

I don't see any advantage to a poly frame over the alloy for the PCR. Unless they're gonna have some sort of price break...

weight wise the alloy frame of my P01 is as light as the poly frame of my XD

I dont see the advantage of it either. Some guns just work in Polymer....IMO, some dont. CZ's are one of those that IMO DONT!
But Im an old holster maker whos set in his ways..............dagnabbit! :neener:
Shoot well.
