I tripped over a lightly used aluminum-framed 9x19 RAMI years ago at a pawn shop for $260, and I bought it on a lark. I'd not been one of the Kool Aid drinkers when the things were released, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that it's a reliable, easy to shoot, accurate and decently small little gun.
Noting that the factory rubber stocks added some unnecessary and (for me) counterproductive thickness to the double-stack frame, I pulled them off and replaced them with flat plastic ones I made up (along with a rubber tennis racquet grip enhancer for grippyness). I find the gun capable of shooting one-hole full-mag groups with FMJs that it likes at 10 yards. It positively loves 147-grain Speer Gold Dots (which do c. 925 fps from the 3" tube), but I carry with also-accurate 124-gr short barrel +P Gold Dots that do 1185 fps. I have used 115-gr +P+ 9BPLE (1215 fps) from the gun, but didn't feel the platform really liked it, and I've not found the gun to be reliable with my beloved Winchester 127-gr +P+ RA9TA Ranger Talons (slams slide back so hard that it wants to stick).
The trigger pull is interesting. Like other CZ-75-derived pistols, the single-action pull actually lifts the hammer a teensy bit before dropping it. A little disconcerting, but not difficult to handle. The DA and SA pulls are smooth, but a little long and heavy. I find that keeping ten rounds in the short mag results in a rattle, so I tend to carry with only 9 in the onboard mag. That said, Mec-Gar 16-round CZ-75 magazines work great in the gun and are what I carry for back-up duty.
With my PPS
I used to carry this gun (in a Remora no-clip IWB) a lot more than I presently do - I love shooting it and love the traditional double action with the hammer. But it's larger and heavier (more bullets will do that) than my 3" Kahr, so it winds up falling between my teeny-tiny-no-cover-garment niche and my compact-auto-with-a-cover-garment niche and not seeing a lot of use these days.
I'm glad to own it, though, and am happy to rely upon it for personal protection.
