Good shooting; mine likes Black Hills 223 60 Gr Hornady V-Max too. Last time I shot I had some inexpensive plain jane Sellier & Bellot 223 55 gr FMJ which grouped as well as the Black Hills which surprised me. You never know what the rifle will like until you try it and "testing" is half the fun. :)

Incidentally – You’ll find a good guide on how to adjust the set and standard trigger at rimfirecentral.com, which was put together by Shorty, one of the forum members. It’s written for the CZ 453 however the CZ 527 trigger is identical. I’ve used the guide with both my 453 and 527.

I own two CZ rifles, both ZKM 452 Scout models. Awesome little guns. I have a friend that owns a CZ-550 Varmint in 308 Win. and I would gladly own one of those as well - it shoots sub MOA all day. I may own a CZ 527 Carbine in 7.62x39 one of these days and I will own another 452 or 453 in 22LR.

thanks guys, not bad for the first time outa the box, but really wanna see how she does at 100 yards, so stay tuned. happy shootin:)

I've got a 452, a 527, and two 550s. (and a 75 SA in 9x19).

The pic below was my very first test of some handload batches in my .308 Win CZ 550 Varmint.

It is to this day, one of the best groups I've gotten with this rifle, but 1/2 MOA without shooter mistakes is typical. I've got full blown benchrest rifles that have a hard time repeating this kind of group.

I love that rifle, and will keep all my CZ(s). No complaints.

RugerOldArmy-nice shooting! Just got a 550 308 varmint, but not scoped yet. Did your stock come with a pressure point at fore end, with the rest of barrel free floated?

What rings are ya using?

Thanks much

Zeke,

There was no skill in shooting that group. The rifle was in bags, shot free-recoil, with the set trigger. (Don't give me credit unless I'm shooting offhand or at unknown distances.) The scope hadn't even been zeroed, but I was shooting for precision (to test reloads) rather than accuracy.

Rings, lol, I have three sets of rings for that rifle:

- I have some 1" Leupold rings, which I like the least, but they let me put on a Weaver T36 target scope, which is great for testing reloads. I have this scope just for that purpose, and use it for various rifles.

The primary scope I have on that rifle is a 30mm 4-16x50 Nikon Tactical Scope (MilDot, since this is my beanfield rifle). It has a large bell, and wants high rings to clear the bolt, a common issue with CZ rifles. (Nice scopes, a cut above the Monarchs, you don't see these much, they're built like tanks, weigh about the same, and have great adjustments.)

- I have the CZ 30mm Rings. Great rings, brittle screws. Beware the brittle screws with CZ rings! :banghead:

- I've switched to the Warne 30mm High rings, which I like the best. It's worth looking around for these. They have a model for the CZ 550 dovetailed receiver (note that the 452/453 and 527 receivers are smaller dovetails)..

My .308 550 is the plain 'ol walnut stock 550 Varmint stock. It is free-floated from the factory. I have a can of Devcon to glassbed this rifle, but given the groups, and the fun glassbedding a Mauser with a magazine, I haven't gotten around to doing this since I got the rifle. (Way to remind me I'm getting Lazy ;) )

Hope this helps!

That rifle can flat shoot! WOW! I thought mine were shooting well. They will not touch that one though.

I do most of my shooting using a led sled. Mostly because when I am shooting it is to try out new rounds. In a couple of weeks though I am going to be going to my father-in-laws for some long range shooting and that will be when I find out just how good I shoot over distance. Out to 500 yards. I have never done anything like this so I am really looking forward to it.

Don't forget to bring your 452 Lux. It's amazing what you can hit at 200 yards with a .22 LR with open sights.

When I shot that group, and the rifle was new, I have to confess to have been nearly as happy as Brad Pitt must be when Angelina Jolie shows up with a new nightie and a mischevious smile. ;)

RugerOldArmy-thanks much, it be appreciated. Still getting it togther for a scope. Either a 10x ss, or a Nikkon 6x18 Buckmaster.

Have several CZ rifle's before the 308. They all all extremely accurate.

ROA, thats and awesome 550 you got there. czguy i know what you mean, though not shootin 200 but just recently removed my scope from my 452fs and started using irons most rewarding and challenging, hitting golf balls at 50 yards fun as heck.

update on my 527 @ 100yards, pics of my best shots of the day, still need more practice though. used 60 grain hollow points. but will try different ammo 55gr,62gr, and see what it likes best till next time happy shootin

Bought a CZ 452 .22lr Special (Like a Lux) a few days ago. So far one ragged hole at 25 meters. Some groups weren't that good but one was.

Pound for Pound CZ's are untouchable. A no thrills rifle that will not let you down and they shoot straight. I own a few but, my favourite is a 527 in .22 Hornet, it will cloverleaf at 100yds and is a joy to shoot.

This is my first post on THR, so hello to all from the UK

Cz 602

I got a 602 in 375 H&H mag. Its as good as it gets for my use. Must have shot 17 moose with it or so. Little bit heavy, to long and the stock is to much of a "banana". The accuracy is outstanding. Hole in hole. Way better than my Rem 700 in the same caliber, however this rifle got a straight synth stock and takes the recoil much better. The muser mechanism is fail safe, could be a better safety, but I never got a round in the chamber when I walk arround in the bush anyway. Sitting waiting for the damn moose I just keep the bolt in forward position, but not closed. Best safety there is. Silent too.

Best thing about it in my eyes is that it can take almost any loads. Its my 375 load testing gun. I had no idea what kind of loads to start with when I tried out the 380 grs Rhino bullets. I ended up with Norma N19 powder. Dont remember the load right now, but I can find it if someone wants to know. In the chronograph it made a good 740 ms (2430 fs). Pretty good for a bullet with that mass. The bullets are 2" long!!

Oh...and it takes 6 rounds in the magazine. Dont know of any gun that does the same in that caliber......

I have a shortened 452 in .22LR. What a rifle for the money, I mean man oh man. I paid $175 for it used. I don't need another .22 Bolt rifle (except an Anshutz match rifle, of course). I'd like a Ruger 77/22 in .22WMR, but I'd feel stupid for not buying a 452-lux and leaving the barrel long.

This is my dedicated small game rifle, barrel shortened to 20.5" w/ a M1 Carbine front sight. I feed it CCI Velocitors in the field for an honest chronographed 1415fps (faster than w/ the 24" barrel). Of course the critters are smart and haven't shown themselves yet...
