The subject of today’s report is a CZ 97B I acquired back in December of 2000. When I bought it, it was $565 with 7 10 round magazines, case, zipper range pouch and the like. I bought it because the glossy blue was very very nice! The shot below is of the 97b with a Springfield P9ultra below it. The glossy blue is very nicely done.
The gun has been shot a fair amount over the years, but frankly it has never been a favorite. It has a nasty tendency to toss brass everywhere and as a reloaded that is very irritating. The setup at the range is shown below. The LB45 and CZ97b are shown on the bench.
Here is a shot of the results of today’s shooting. I ended up shooting 1909 rounds of 45acp today and another 200 rnds of 38special in my pre-war 38/44 heavy duty, but that is another review (along with the really really nice pre-25 Ben helped me out with. Thanks Ben).
As you can see in the shot above the brass catcher has a box of ammo in it because it was windy. That windy gusty day did not help my efforts shooting nor did not being out much this year so far help out either. Work has kept me hoping around a lot lately. Here is the layout of the shoot and the targets as setup.
The cz97b is factory stock accept for a FLGR shown below. I put the flgr in it to stop the recoil spring from rubbing on the inside of the slide during recoil. It racks much better and smoother now that I have done it. The picture below was taken during the clean up session.
The cz97b also has a loaded chamber indicator. I have read online that this causes some folks grief but it has never bothered me a bit. It works as advertised and seems to be just there. I guess if I were to carry this gun, it might be nice, but otherwise, here is a picture.
