One the size of a glock 19 or smaller. So, does a reliable one exist? A few years ago I was looking at a compact EAA witness that seemed to fit that bill but read to many reports all agreeing that it was unreliable. I kind of left it on the back burner for a while, but recently started carrying the Springfield XDM elite compact 10 mm. I like this pistol a lot, don't get me wrong, but I have always prefered DA/SA hammer fired pistols with decockers.
I prefer to carry appendix concealed, but have heard of too many guys shooting themselves in the e'hem... when reholstering. I've even been present during one such near miss circumstance at a training camp. Fortunately it missed the goods and grazed his thigh, and only did enough damage to need some gauze and medical tape and he was up and running again. he's a friend and showed me the wound still looked nasty, but it was SO close to being a huge deal.
For that reason I've always conceal carried any striker fired pistols inside waist band on my right hand side. I personally have pretty good awareness of where my finger is, but all it takes is one 'oops'. that extra heavy double action trigger pull on a decocked pistol adds a cushion of safety there, but still has the added benefit of a single action trigger after the initial shot. I don't like manual safety's, just another thing to train and remember during times of potential extreme stress, so I dont carry 1911s that much in spite of my love for them.
Anyway, my reasons aside anyone know of any options that hold 10+ rounds? Even converting a compact 45 would be ok as long as its reliable. I'm
wondering if Springfield might end up making an XDE that would accomplish this.
