I been looking for a good pistol for sometime and I been looking at a bersa thunder I like the pistol a lot but I am realizing that 380 is not as plentiful as 9 is or as cheap so I been looking around and I just can't find one I like. I looked at several glock but not wanting to spend that much right at the moment on one and I prefer a da/sa and I can't find any used or new and really don't know what to look for. I am just researching before I buy anything thanks

Look at .38 spl S&W. Might pay a bit more but quality and reliabilty is important to me.

Of you like your bersa they make a 9mm da/sa that is economical and gets consistently good reviews.

If my trigger finger could reach the DA trigger better I would have bought it.

I kind of compare it to the older ruger p89s

Well if you like Bersa then how about something like the Thunder Pro Ultra Compact 9? A dependable, tried and true DA/SA design with a 13 round magazine and available from Bud's Gunshop for $400. A comparable Glock 19 would go for around $540-$550 so if you're on a limited budget the Bersa would definitely save you some money right upfront.

Save up another $50 and get a CZ P07 or P09... Personally I don't think there is another plastic pistol on the market today I'd take over it at any price... it is an INCREDIBLE bargain at $450.

I remember the P-07 was on sale for just under $400 for a while there. I had one, it was a good pistol, but just didn't work good for me. My friend was much better with it than I was.

They updated the new P07s with all the features that were introduced on the P09. I would get one of the updated ones personally. But yeah, the old ones can be had for even less.

It would be in my price range I kinda want to keep it under 450. Shop around here has nothing but glocks or m&p. The one that keeps entering my mind is the rock island 1911 in 9mm I like the 1911 platform but I think it would be to big to carry.

Well, if you like 9mm and the 1911 platform, get a Sig 938 and an extended magazine for it. Yes, it is outside your budget, but I took the leap and am glad I did so. Rock solid, a better shooter than I am, eats any brand of ammo, a delight to carry IWB. The safety is firm and positive, the sights are great, and the gun runs like a Swiss watch. I did go down the "budget gun" road, but since I bought my 938, I now know what I was missing.

My first carry gun was a Kahr CW9. That is a great and reliable gun within your budget. I still own mine. It has a unique long (but smooth) trigger pull and is small in the hand, but it might be just the thing for you. I carried mine for five years before I bought the Sig.

Sig Sauer SP 2022 is a double/single action and is very accurate. I have one in 9mm and use it in my carry rotation. I got it used for less than $400 out the door.

Agreed! I've a 9mm version and it shoots very well. Got mine for $380. The back straps can be swapped out (there are three different sizes, although the gun only comes with two). The downside is, the aftermarket for this gun is sparse (if you need any extras...you might not). It's got an awesome trigger...super smooth.

All the SA/DA 9mm pistols that i can think of have double stack magazines. I don't know of a slim single stack 9mm with SA/DA action.

$400 will buy a used Glock around here. You can sometimes find used S&W Sigmas for as little as $250. A highly under rated pistol. Regardless, with any budget I always look at used guns first. Almost all of my guns were bought used, especially handguns.

I look at a Beretta px4 storm in either 9mm or 40 at a local gun shop and I like it and I might just go with a Beretta. I like the 92s but I can't find one around here. Main reason I don't really look at used is moat shop had new prices on used pistol when a good deal is available it gone pretty quick.

A Browning BDM (no longer made) is an EXTREMELY slim double-stack full-size DA/SA (and DAO, if you so choose) 9mm. Downside is the frame-mounted safety-decocker that has an up-to-fire arrangement... opposite of how most frame mounted safeties operate, and posing some difficulty for those with high grips. And they've been out of production for many years, so parts may be getting scarce. Otherwise, though, they're pretty solid and interesting guns.

[QUOTEI looked up some pics of these. Nice looking guns. I wish S&W still made models like this][/QUOTE]

Me too. But plenty on the used gun market.
