About 18 months ago, a similar stock (without the revolver) was offered and sold on GB.

Dang! That's a nice one. I'd say it is cheap enough.

Yeah, cheap enough at the moment. Still 6 days left until the feeding frenzy begins. Insofar as being an exact duplicate, hardly, but close. The fact that it is cased with accoutrements will add a huge premium.

This is the original as presented by Sam Colt to then Secretary of War Jefferson Davis in 1859 (per Charles W. Pate The Colt Model 1860 Army Revolver (2018) pg. 59).

I have always wished for an engraved pistol. Probably not gonna happen. I have a Ruger SBH that I've had since I was 21, I'd kind of like to have that engraved.

I certainly would not mind having that '51.

There was one of the Colt Blackpowder Arms Co 3rd gen engraved Patersons that sold last week on Rock Island that had a high estimate of only $2250. I've seen them bring a bit more than that on Gunbroker--maybe $2500 to $3000 in the last year or so.

However, this one brought a whopping $10,350 including the buyer's premium. That's typical for RIA. They seem to consistently draw people with deep pockets who have more money than sense.

I am so glad that I don't want a Paterson. RIA always draws folks with a lot of money. I will troll the various auction sites for other revolvers that escape many guns that most folks do not have a clue about. That is where one can find treasures that most folks have not a clue insofar as the scarcity/rarity. I just have to have the money in the bank to bid on them, and that is not in the near future.
