Dear Sportsman's Guide......

Sportsmans Guide backordered a case of 45 ammo on me last spring. Each month the email would arrive saying I had to reply to the email to keep the backorder active. Finally, in December, they said I would have to call customer service to keep the backorder active.

GOODBYE SPORTSMANS GUIDE

sportsmansguide is more of an "odd lots, big lot" type of operation. they have no problem with running an advertisement for an item they only had 10 of, and sold 10 the first day from the internet site.
example, 60 count case of mre main entrees for 40 dollars, had 3 cases on backorder for a year and a half before they admited theyd sold out before my order had been placed to begin with.
club members seem to get first pick from what they have in stock. most club members get prferential treatment as they tend to buy cases or pallets of an item at a time and not one or two items at a time.

I get that warm fuzzy feeling just knowing how many gun owners view this post, and observe that S/G may not be the best choice for ammo.

They haven't failed yet, and I'll hold their feet to the fire.

If they don't want to fulfill orders at the quoted price, they shouldn't take back-orders. It's a bait-and-switch. I would try to force their hand.

I think it is more likely that your order is caught in some computer loop and not a conspiracy. There is nothing legally preventing them from just canceling your order since they haven't charged you. An advertized price is not a binding contract.

Isn't there a difference between advertising a price and actually accepting an order, though?
