My main breed is Buff Orpingtons also. They are a great layer and they eat pretty good also. When I hatch eggs I eat the roosters at about 10 weeks. They won't be real big. They will take the cold and hot weather very well.
Aguila .22 Super Colibri in a bolt action rifle is quieter than most air rifles. They recommend only using them in a pistol but I've never had a round get stuck in the barrel. The smack from the bullet impact is louder than the report. Squirrels no problem, don't know if it would take out a coon though.
"Just aim at the hind quarters, then listen for the loud yelp and watch 'em run. It won't cause any permanent damage."
That was my thought.
Oleg, I suppose someone might decide to come take my chickens to eat them, but it would take some balls. I think they'd raise a ruckus and make it hard, too.
