I just got an arsenal Ak 101 copy called an slr-106 its in 223 and it came with 7 bulgarian circle 10 magazines for $1000. It also has the new polymer left side folding stock, which I was told to buy the part and have it installed is like $200. The price seemed right and asenals are kind of scarce in my neck of the woods so i snagged it, but now I looked up the rifle on arsenals website and they're selling them for $800 brand new. Now don't get me wrong it's not like the one i bought is a piece of junk, I think its been fired maybe three times in its life and maybe only 100 to 200 rounds per time so, its in nice shape. But its not new, so do you guys think i got ripped?

i wouldn't beat yourself up about it. you already own it and you'll just make yourself mad. as long as you like it and think you got a good deal you are good to go. i don't have experience with arsenals but ak's in general are way higher priced than even just a year ago. plain jane wasr's are going for 500, so what you paid is probably about right for right now.

The Bulgarian .223 mags are $25 to $30 each, when you can find them in stock. Seven total mags, so assume one with the rifle, and six extras. The six extra mags are worth $150 to $180. I just bought a Norinco NHM 90 in .223, and I'm hunting mags myself. I wouldn't worry about the price you paid. I'd consider it a slight premium paid to have the gun & mags in hand right now. A bit on the high side, but not really ripped off.

I'd say that's a decent retail price, which would make it a little high for a private sale, but not a rip off.

IMO, you did just fine. The extra mags are probably worth more than the difference you paid plus, if the $1000 price tag was OTD, then you saved $40-60 in shipping and FFL fees.

New Arsenal rifles, with the polymer side folder, are $1100 or more, and come with 1 magazine. Those magazines you got are something like $25, when you can even find them. I'd say you did well!

You didn't pay too much, you just bought it too soon.

If you wait a year or two and look back you will see the price was just right. ;)

About 3 years back I bought my Arsenal SLR-106FR (side folder) with just the standard 10 round mag for $900 and I overpaid at that time. You could find them for 600-700 all day long. Now the SLR series is getting kind of scarce due to the lack of bulgarian kits and because Arsenal has mainly switched over to the Saiga/SGL series.

So no, it sounds like you did just fine. Besides the SLR-106FR is probably the most accurate stock stamped AK on the market (excluding long barreled and SVD types). I find mine to be comparable to an M4 carbine/ Sig 556.

Gelgoog

Are the bulgarian arsenals better than the saiga ones, I was going to order an SGL 31 before I found this rifle(it is a SLR106fr) and liked the idea of it in 223, because I already have an m4gery so I already have ammo.

Can you or should you use steel case ammo in the SLR106fr?

I'm also thinking about adding the optics rail to the side, has anyone else done this?

How did it turn out?

How did you do it?

Here are some pictures

One of the magazines is clear are they worth more or less?

Sounds like an OK deal. You didn't make off like a bandit, but you hardly got screwed either.
